Saw it yesterday, and damn it was worth every penny.

Great action and effects. Two thumbs up all the way.

WORD. Not used to Uhura being hot & Scotty being in Shaun of the Dead...

Twice...:D

Laughed my ass off both times, too. I think those actors got the characters figured out quite well. One of the comments from one of the people I saw the movie with, was that the actor who played McKoy must've spent many hours watching old episodes to get him down like that.

I was warned by Sumo that if you're a die-hard Trekkie, you might be disappointed with the ending and the redirection. I like change...change is good. I do hope they will make more ST movies to follow this one.

I don’t know, it reminded me too much of Galaxy Quest.
But the red shirt dying on the away mission was funny.

I think the goal was "make star trek sexy." Didn't do too bad. It's like Transformers meets the OC with star trek names & backdrop

I loved it...went opening night :-)
Yeah, red shirt dying on the mission was classic. lol. And a lot of the random little comments (like scotty....)

I liked how the classic lines were in there:

"Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not a ____"

"I'm given her all she's got"

etc.

Scotty was damn riot! I knew he was gonna be great when I recognized him from hot fuzz & shaun of the dead! Chekov was pretty good too. Great casting all 'round!

Judging by the trailers, it's gonna be a pretty good movie season this year!

Terminator
G.I. Joe
Transformers 2
Angels & Demons

and I think there were a few others worth seeing in the theaters too

Went to go see a different movie last night and the movie theater was nuts! They had people directing traffic in the lots, crazy lines, and pretty much all the showings were sold out! Guess I will have to go see it when the madness dies down a bit :)

See a matinee. We went to the 1:30 showing yesterday & there were PLENTY of seats & no line. Of course when we left, there was a line to get into the theater for the next showing, so it's all in the timing I guess.

Plus Wolverine just came out and I have yet to see that.

The Hangover looks fuggen hilarious. Not sure if it's worth $30 to see, but I do want to see it.

Public Enemies with Johnny Depp as John Dillinger and Christian Bale in there.

Ice Age 3

New Pixar movie: UP

Taking of Pelham 123 with Denzel Washington and John Travolta as a bad guy.

Going to be a great movie summer.

And with the way the weather's been going on the weekend, it's looking like we'll be spending a lot of time in the theaters...

I saw it. I thought it was awesome and I'm not a Trekkie by any means. I didn't get why Captain Kirk was so popular, but now I do. Definitely a fun movie to watch in the theatres.

Transformers 2

The dialogue in the Transformers 2 trailer made me want to kill myself "NOT WITHOUT YOU!!".. it's like shut up please and just try to look hot.

Star Trek was EPIC, best movie of the year I'm sure. (Except Harry Potter haha)

Terminator Salvation seems to me to be the best possibility for this season.

Star Trek was entertaining, especially because I never watched the show, and didn't know any better. The Beastie Boys/Nokia crap during the Vette scene was poor though.

TS, and TF will be legit, cool flix..

GI Joe made me laugh. Looks terrible, and has nothing to do with the cartoon. I'll download the bluray later this summer.

DLed Wolverine a couple months back. Terrible flick. I liked the XMen movies too.

as shitty a movie as Death Race (the new one). Both movies are shot like the camera man was having a seizure.

I know, it was blair witch project but with "monsters." Never seen it, but I prefer the south park parody.

"AHHHHHH!!!! It's a Guinnea Bee!!! RUN!!! It's a GUINNEASAURUS REX!!!"

I am not a Trekkie either (but after some episode quoting about Cpt. Pike, Dawn said " Do I smell a trekkie?"), it is full of action and laughs.

Good flick

It was alright... I wouldn't rush right out to see it again, but I'm not the trekkie that my dad is and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

I think the comment about Galaxy Quest was a little too spot on.

+1 on the casting. Half the fun was waiting for them to spout off all the lines that you knew they were going to say eventually. Transformers looks better IMHO.

Here's what "The Media" is saying about the new Trek movie.

I could watch Brey Lindsey read the New York tax code and I would still want her.
