What the heck! I got an AARP card in the mail.....Am I really there?
Do I jump for joy at having made it this far?... Is it my first notice of impending death? Do I go hogwild and do a bunch of dumb stuff?

AARP isnt for me...it's for my parents....

Does it stand for Armed and Really Pissed?

Nope....I choose to chuck it! No way and no how am I going to actually use it.

I'm depressed.......:(:cry::turtle:

Do bike shops offer AARP discounts? No?.. .chuck it then.

It can be helpful when touring. I use it to get discounts at motels while on the road.

I've got other reasons for being depressed because of my age, but ultimately, it's all in how you look at it.

Carl has the best idea. I hope to have done some awesome touring before I get my AARP discount card, but I will definitely use it when the time comes.

I would have to go with mtnairlover on this one. I try not to think about the fact that kids I used to babysit are graduating HS...or the couple of different careers I have had...I just want to stay in shape, and ride as much as I can for as long as I can.

BTW...after meeting you Friday night, I would not have guessed you would be receiving "that" card in the mail...like you told Sully, I'd go with 35 :)

Don't feel bad, I've been getting my Social Security updates and AARP requests for a few years now. I think it is related to my recent hip replacement but have yet to prove that theory. The wifey thinks it's funny, till I remind her she is only 3 years younger than I. Now not so funny. Hang in there, it will all be over in a few decades.

Let me tell you something about being depressed. It is not about getting an AARP card. If it is, then I m mailing one to each and every one of you fuckers. MY wife is old enough to get them. Hell, she is on the steering committee for AARP with Moses and Pandora

I think depressed is the wrong word at this point. I'm insulted....if they think I'm going down easily, they are sadly mistaken.

I'm overwhelmed with end of the year school stuff, but if someone plans it I'm there too....central like Castle Rock?

mtnairlover
Tue May 12th, 2009, 09:57 AM
Maybe central like Denver, since there are some of us FOGs all the way up in Fort Collins and even as far as Cheyenne.

Downtown Denver has been a good central locale in the past. Brecks is a good place.

Just throwing it out there.

Let's not leave out the baby 40's either...I thought FOG was 40 and over?

It is... but old-timers is kicking in so I can't be sure.

Fixed it fer ya!

It would be a riot to see a bunch'o geriatric sport bike riders show up en force to a downtown establishment in broad daylight.

I'm about to hit that wonderful 45 mark that Pandora mentioned, anyway, so it doesn't make a difference to me...but I couldn't think of leaving my compatriots behind...so, I'd say the more the merrier.
