3 days, 2 bikes, beautiful weather... what else is there?!

Here's a few pics from King Nothing's and my trip to the 4 Corners...

Saturday started out cold and wet, but as soon as we got over Kenosha Pass, the clouds broke and it started warming up.

The route:

Just outside Buena Vista

Near Powderhorn

Amazing what you find when you're not looking

Started raining near Wolf Creek... which is good cause the bike needed a bath.

The 4 Corners Monument. We figured that we had better get over and see it before they move it

Doug's off to the Grand Canyon with his family, I had to get back today so I slabbed it back... ouch!

On the upside, there was no one on Wolf Creek Pass this morning... it was beautiful!

Now that would make the trip for me, right there. What an amazing trip you had. Oh, but there are some roads in NM that are worth the trip...gotta get into the mountains for that, though.:)

I'm sure there are... we just chose incorrectly! The scenery was cool, but the condition of the tarmac down near Navajo Lake State Park left a lot to be desired.

Yep, been there....camping actually. And yep, the roads sucked. Oh, but the San Juan river coming out of that lake was amazingly clear and deep, too. Camped next to a guy who had been fishing all day and the size of those fish were amazing.

The road that goes around Red River, Angel Fire and Taos has some to die for scenery and is a nice ride.

Wow, I am glad you got there before they moved it...

Alferd Packer sounds like he would make a great camping buddy

I just moved here from that area.
I will agree the roads suck.
They change right at the welcome to NM sign.
Took one ride to navajo lake, once.

If you ever go that way again, take the red mountain pass. The million dollar highway.

When you said you where heading out to Cali, I thought that was your bike trip... do yourselves a favor and stick to Southern Colorado. Like Lead said, the roads in NM leave a lot to be desired.

Yeah... it was a good time... There something about flying past the Goldwingers with their trailers with nothing but a tank bag and rain gear.

Nice ! Glad you made it back safely :)

thanks

Will chock it up to a "been there" experience.

Looks like a great trip!
You guys sure didn't take much gear. Same thing happened to me till after Kenosha pass. Froze my ass off, and then got some relief by Buena Vista. I can't see the route, are you able to post up a link instead?

That was the nice thing about tagging along with Doug's Family. His wife drove their minivan and we threw our gear in the back. So the trip down, all we needed was rain gear.

That last pic has my Nelson-Rigg setup for the trip home.
