Manitou Incline site (http://www.manitouincline.net/main.htm)
Yesterday, a group of us did the incline. I would be more than happy to do it again. :)

This was a great way to start the day at 6am. The parking lot was 65% full when I arrived.

2800 railroad ties, 2000 feet of vertical in 0.9 miles. Good times!

Bear Creek Trail is the easy way back down. The Bear Creek Trail is also the trail I took to hike up to the top of Pikes Peak at 14 with a 72 year young guy.

YEah the incline is awesome! I do it about once a week. Did you know they want to start charging to park at barr trail head and maybe the surrounding parking near Iron Springs and the Cog?

Yes sir! I read this on the Incline forum.

Greed is not a good thing. Fights start over silly stuff like this. Manitou might as well and charge people for stopping at red lights, because Manitou just provided the service of safety.

Yeah, heard about the charge to park at the bottom of Barr Trail. They want to sell them in form of (yearly?) permits. Please enlighten me - if one goes to do the incline, why can't they walk a few steps up from Ruxton? That is just silly.

Because it's private property and theoratically we're trespassing. So the owner put up signs to protect themselves from "trespassers" that hurt themselves while climbing. This way they try and prevent liability.

They are suppose to open it up as an official trail sometime soon. I think that's another reason for the parking fee at Barr Trail head. I hear now they want to use the fees to pave the parking area?? I don't see why it needs to be paved. They could at least use the funds for trail maintainance.
