Here's the follow up: http://www.ktul.com/news/stories/0609/629440.html

This guy has no place in law enforcement.

When the officer's number comes up and needs a ride in the meat wagon, yielding to other emergency vehicles might get extra consideration. Its a small world.

If i was that paramedic, i would had the pigs badge and had him strung up before the day was out. I dont give a shit who you are, you dont pull some shit like that. What if that patient in the back had died while this was going on... I would consider the cop a murderer! what a worthless piece of shit. This is why I dont have ANY faith in anyone. Power corrupts.

Hope those paramedics nail that fucker to the wall... and frankly the other officer there too for standing back and watching it happen.

The EMT's attorney says it was a case of road rage by the trooper. But the trooper says the paramedic made an obscene gesture at him and assaulted him first.

Police say they have their own version of the truth that was recorded by their dashboard cam. Of course they are refusing to release it.

If the dashcam video exonerates the officer, I would think that they would want to release it immediately. Maybe there isn't enough here to warrant a criminal charge but I would certainly hope that the state patrol would issue a reprimand to the officer. If a citizen acted that way, there would certainly be claims of road rage.

I didn't realize it was illegal to make an obscene gesture at someone.

An old classic video of a guy testing if it was wrong to flip off a cop...

The highway patrol officer was clearly in the wrong in for stopping an ambulance on a run to the hospital. If there was any doubt, the officer should have contacted his dispatch to verify they had a patient and was in route.

At which point he should have given escort and dealt with the “flipping off” incident at the hospital. His action could have potentially put the patient in danger.

From the video, this incident could have easily moved from physical violence to use of deadly force by the officer. This kind of uncalled for rage cannot be tolerated within law enforcement. Officers must hold a much higher level of professionalism in order to for the public to trust them enough to let them do their jobs.

This whole thing is scary. That trooper seems unstable. The psych screening needs to keep people that volatile out.

Nah, not between police and fire/rescue. His anger could have resulted in a dead patient if the circumstances of the ambulance's call were more serious. You DO NOT pull over an ambulance or fire apparatus while on a call, that's absolutely fucking retarded.

I used to be an EMT and our relationship with the police was actually very good, and I'd assume it's like this in most places.

I agree.
I believe there was an incident where a CA state patrol pulled over an local LEO in California, on official business, speeding w/o lights/siren and got chewed out over it. Desk ridden for two weeks. Dunno if the OK boys would do the same.

I know, I was being fecicious.

I am a Deputy and would never do that shit. Also, I used to be a Deputy in southern Oklahoma and knew quite a few OHP Officers. Most of them were really decent guys. There is always one douche bag in every group. If you can't figure out which one it is, it's probably you. Every group. Bikers, cops, college kids (usually lots more than one).

For those of you who want to talk shit about all cops because of this incident, next time your bike gets stolen, call a crackhead.

Ah, my bad. But I agree, almost all of the cops I've met are nice guys, especially in Colorado. There are always a few bad apples.

Probably get the same results. I have to agree the only time I was let off ( still had a 450 dollar ticket) was in Oklahoma. You always see the videos of black people getting harrassed by cops, but no white guys

I couldn't find the direct link on youtube.com, but here's some of the new released footage from the dash cam of the State Trooper's car. Just watch the two videos the guy links to:
http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/xdtalk-chatter-box/122157-dashcam-has-been-released-i-dont-understand-something.html

You watch and decide, seems to me that everyone is just pissed in this situation. Me personally I think the State Trooper went a little to far with the whole "running code" thing. I was always raised that if you see an Ambulance, they will always have the right of way regardless of who else has their lights on.

It's like the old riddle of a four way stop. You have a Postal Truck, A Ambulance, A Fire truck and a Cop car. They all get to the 4 way stop at the same time, which one goes first?? Well the Postal truck goes first because he's Federal. Then the Ambulance, then the Fire truck and lastly the Cop. Regardless of who is to the right as well. Now, the second part is, there's an Emergency and all four get to the stop sign first. Which one goes first? The Ambulance, then the Fire truck, then the Postal truck and last the cop. Your life saving response people are always first. Law Enforcement is always last, because for one they can't render life saving help(like a Ambulance or Fire truck) can.

I think the guy just got a little hot under the collar in this situation and he mis-took the Ambulance guys for questioning his authority. You know personally, if you've got someone in the back of an Ambulance that needs medical attention RIGHT THEN, put your dicks back in your pants and let the guys get that person the medical attention they need. If you still need to stroke your ego, take it up with the paramedics at the hospital once they get that person the medical attention they needed. Least that's how it should have went down. Because if the person in the ambulance would have died, I would hope that the family would have sued the State Trooper department until they were broke, because that was uncalled for.

That guy needs to be sitting at a desk for a while. That's the kind of power tripping attitude that needs to be avoided with a law enforcement officer. Reminds me of the SC Highway Patrol officer who lost his job with such an outburst, dragging a woman out of a car while she was still belted in.

Hmmmm... It has been a few years since I was a first responder but if I was running code I would have:

A) stayed my course and continued to hospital since patient care is #1 priority.
B) radio into dispatch and to notify them of situation and requested supervisor meet at hospital.

I'm sure I would have taken my lumps and the hospital and maybe had a day in court, but this would have only made the cop look like an ass in front of a judge.

I'm glad the cops in San Diego are cool with EMS and I never had to deal with this.

You know after watching the second video that the son was filming, and watching that State Trooper choke that medic. That medic should have just rolled that little trooper up in a ball for doing that. It was totally uncalled for and it had been a few days and I forgot that the was choking the dude.

I fully respect law enforcement and I know there are good cops. But in my opinion this dude needed his ass beat right there on the side of the road.

And Dirk I think you're letting him off easy, and giving him desk duty. Because if it were up to me, I'd fire his ass on the spot as soon as I saw the videos. There is no reason for this kind of conduct between two response employees. And I applaud the paramedic for keeping his cool and wits, because he looked like he was about ready to snap that troopers neck like a twig.

This bad apple in every bunch excuse is getting old. Seems like quite a few of the bad apples from all the other groups mentioned like to become cops... And the comment about calling a crackhead vs the police the next time one of our bikes gets stolen is laughable. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had their bike stolen only to have the police show up after several calls a couple hours later, fill out a report thats less detailed than the rental application at Blockbuster and stuff it in a file cabinet. Pretty much the same thing except with a 15 minute response when there was a drive-by shooting at our place which I witnessed. I gave the cops a complete description of the vehicle and shooter but they just proceeded to pull over every hispanic they saw in the neighborhood that night. Denver PD flat out refused to respond to a break-in at our property and told us to drive down to the station to file a report...

This behavior from the Oklahoma Trooper is inexcusable but it is far more in line with what I've seen from many cops I've had encounters with. The most serious charge I've ever had was 15 over in a 55 on the interstate yet I've been verbally and physically assaulted on several occasions over the last 5 years. All the police are is an illegal revenue collection service that uses intimidation and force to acheive their goals. They don't prevent crime, they show up after the fact. If you want to protect and serve become a fireman or EMT... the world doesn't need another prick with a badge. I've known a few cops who were decent people when the badge was off but its a different story when they put on the uniform.

I'm just a regular guy calling it like I see it.

So you're saying it's a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde existence? I can relate. just because they wear the badge should not allow them to be above the law. Many LEO's seem to forget who pays for their salaries.
