I got home yesterday after a 20 minute bike ride, sweating like crazy. As I came in, I asked Rita how her day was. She said, "not good". It took me a sec to notice the blue ice bag on her foot.
She's a volunteer at the Forest Service. Yesterday and today, she was going with the group to build a fence in the park. Unfortunately, right at the start of the day yesterday, someone put a fence log down and it started rolling down the hill. Rita tried to jump over it and landed on her foot wrong.
I carried her out to the car (she was trying to hop out :) ) and we headed over to Urgent Care. We went to the wrong building so we snagged a wheelchair and I pushed her over to the right one :)
It only took a few minutes to get in to see a doctor. While we were there, I snapped a few pics on my Blackberry :)

Just starting to purple up.

Left side of the foot.
After being taken out to get an x-ray, it was determined that it was a bad sprain. The doctor mentioned surgery as a possibility :crazy2: The doc wants her to stay off of her foot for three days (so I'm working from home today). She wants her to do some Physical Therapy and then return in 3 weeks for an evaluation.
She did get some drugs :)
The doc wanted her to wear a compression device. The nurse came in to show her how it works, how to get it on properly and where things fit (like the front should be behind the toes, there's a heel, like that).

Getting a little help from the nurse.

After the last wrap is in place.
I've been running around getting things picked up around the house so she can easily get around with the crutches. She's never had them before but I've had them a couple of times so I was giving her some tips on getting up and down stairs for example.
