On July 25th for a stunning back to back performance in middle weight and heavy weight endurance!

That's right the bright red ducati (#69) piloted by the guy they call RYBO will be starting from the back row of the grid and hoping to finish NOT LAST at High Plains Raceway on the 25th!

Come cheer me on! There are 2 4 1 gate passes available for spectators and a cooler full of refreshments in my pits. If you're nice I might even show you pictures of my kids! (or if they are up to it they may even BE there!)

Even though I'm STILL unemployed I'm making the effort to support the MRA and keep motorcycle roadracing alive in Colorado.

Come see what all the fuss is about, I guarantee that it's worth it!

Scott

P.S. Bonus points for anyone who protests Ralph for any reason....

And I'll be out there trying to minimize the number of times Rybo and Ralph lap me in HW Endurance. :) We'll have the Eldorado Springs water and vitamin water in our pits.

As for Elden, I will simply place a bowl of sesame chicken in an obvious place along the track (in a non-impact zone for safety, of course), and he will be too drawn to it to continue.

I thought so too last year and then Applehans convinced me to try it. It is now by far the race I enjoy the most. Why do you think you can't do it?

Oh sure blame me :)

I think endurance is by far the most fun for your $$$

You get saturday morning practice, endurance practice and the 30 minute race for $50.00. There is always someone to race with, pass or get passed by.

I think it is maybe too fast for me. Course, so is LOR these days. Holy moly, the fast women on that grid. Whoosh!! :)

Have you seen the size of HPR? Lots of room to spread out.

Definitely sign up for it, you will have fun. If you're getting too tired to finish just pull off early, no harm in that. But it's definitely the best bang for your buck race-wise, which is why a bunch of us are doing it. :)

Every chance I get. :D

No doubt. I like it because it gives me a chance to get into a rhythm and enjoy the tactical nature of racing. I can get behind someone, study them for a lap or two and not feel pressured that if I don't make the pass right now, it's all over. That, and the grids (at least in HW and Open) aren't insane. I get passed like crazy by the experts but it's always clean and I am able to learn a few things as they do. I don't have to worry about being run into (as has happened to me once this year in novice practice) by people whose eagerness isn't matched by their skills.

You would run LW/MW endurance and I don't have any experience with how those go but the grids are noticeably larger than HW/Open. But in HW/Open I get passed by the very fastest guys out there and not once have I had any problem with that. If you ride a consistent line, those guys will go right by you without incident. And like Ralph says, if you get tired, just pull off.

So for a spectator is there seating, or would it be better to bring lawnchairs in the back of the pickup? Is there a cost to come watch this, do I need to bring my snackerals and beverages?

Thu Jul 16th, 2009, 03:52 PM
There are no grandstands to sit. At this track you can not see more than one turn as a spectator. You will have to walk to find a spot to watch. Yes bring a chair.

Keep in mind there is not even running water at the track, so yes bring your own water.

64BonnieLass
Thu Jul 16th, 2009, 03:55 PM
Yes there are some stands to sit in over by the track exit - or there were. You can see turn 4 (kinda), 8 and the corkscrew.

Standing at the wall by the grid you can see front straight, back straight, T1, T8, and corkscrew.

Standing over by the track entry wall, you get an up close and personal view of T1 (yum), and you can see T2, T3.

You can actually see turns 1-4 if you are standing on the east side of the paddock. Then on the west, where there are stands now, you can see turn 8 on the back side of the track, and also turns 13-15 (the corkscrew). :)

No running water however Mo is the track cook and he will have plenty of GREAT food and lots of drinks.
