View Full Version : Dogs on Rides?

Badhabit
Thu Jul 16th, 2009, 03:06 PM
I won't name any names but I was out riding the other day and saw that my friend was carrying a dog on his bike. I don't have anything against dogs, in fact I like them, I just don't want to ride with them. Are there any riders on here that choose NOT to ride with dogs? I know some people feel safer with dogs around but having been bitten once I think its safer to ride without them. I don't see why you would need a guard dog on a RECREATIONAL ride.... :slappers:

I guess it depends on the dog... I think that if you conceal them properly, and no one knows you have one, then by all means, bring your dog along...

My cousins dog loves to ride on four wheelers, or anything with wheels for that matter. If you even act like you are going to get on a four wheeler up at the cabin, she is on the back waiting for you.

It was embarassing once though because we were all walking around and my cousin had the dog on a leash and a guy on a wheelchair went past us and she started freaking out. I think it made the guy in a wheelchair upset, but she just wanted to go for a ride.

Colorado is an open carry state so if your dog is fully visible at all times, you should be fine, loaded or not.......

your bike is an extension of your home, so leash laws don't apply...

You don't need a CCD permit to carry your dog in you car if you mount it properly in a rack like this.

I would totally take my dog along with me, if I had a way.

Seriously though, I had my neighbor tell me the other day that it's illegal for a dog to be in the back of a pickup truck if he/she is not leashed or tied to the vehicle somehow. I know this is true in California, but I've not heard of that here, ever. I have cops near me all the time, and I let my dog run loose in the back of the truck. But he knows better than to lean too far over the edge or even think about jumping out, even if stopped. Is this truly a CO law?

Anyone can walk in and adopt a dog no matter their level of knowledge. Ok got it…

Ok fine, how about this..
The animal shelter will take the time to explain to the dog owner all the features of the dog being adopted. Show how to store the dog safety and give away a training collaring devices to make the dog less dangerous to the public?

I mean what is the first thing most people on this board say when it comes to a new rider. Take a Motorcycle Safety Course.

Why is the equivalent for dogs such a violation of dog owner’s rights? I‘ll concede and say not to make it a law just as the Motorcycle Safety Course is not legally mandated, however if you do take it, it should come with some advantages.

Would this somehow compromise the defense against tyranny?

Would this somehow compromise the defense against tyranny?

The only thing that stands between us and tyranny are dogs on bikes Randall. ANY interference with the free exercise thereof is in direct violation of our God-given Constitutional rights. The Supreme Court upheld our dog-riding rights in the historic Spunky v. Poncho decision of 1952, stating unequivocally that the rights of dogs to ride on motorcycles shall not be "unduly burdened by the state".

So take your fascist propaganda someplace else. First they take away our right to dogs on bikes then the next thing you know we're all in reeducation camps...
