OK, so the Erin Andrews "peephole" video is making headlines. For those of you out of the loop, Erin Andrews is a mega-babe sideline reporter for ESPN. She was video-taped nude in her hotel room through an alleged peephole drilled through the wall from an adjoining room. (Full story here (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1971882/erin_andrews_video_peep_an_espn_inside.html?cat=9) )
As a result of having some connections in the news media, I've seen a copy of the video in question (I will not distribute this video - so do not even ask). However, I have to say that I have some serious concerns with the validity of this video and the allegations surrounding it. Before I get into my analysis, here are some safe-for-work clips of the video in question...

I work in building design and audio-visual technologies, so I have an understanding of construction and also video recording devices. What jumped out to me first about these clips is the fact that the video is shot through what appears to be a solid board (such as a solid core wood door, etc.), and not a 3" deep wall (2x4 stud plus two layers 5/8" drywall). If it were shot through a wall, as is being suggested, one would expect to see drywall, a stud cavity (and likely batt insulation), and the drywall on the opposite side of the wall. However, we simply see a hole through a single panel that is reflective at the perimeter of the hole, which indicates that it is a monolithic panel.
If it is indeed a solid panel, one could deduce that the camera may be a pinhole type device that was fed through the wall from one side, and we are simply seeing the backside of the drywall at the opposite side of the wall. However, at a few points in the recording the camera operator quickly moves to one side of the hole or another, as if to avoid detection by Erin. Such drastic movement cannot be made with a pinhole camera at the end of a cable - especially in a lateral direction, through a small hole, inside a wall cavity. Unfortunately, I can not demonstrate this fact since I will not distribute the video... so you'll just have to take my word for it. The camera movements are large, immediate, and varying.
This then leads me to the only logical conclusion: The video was made with Erin's knowledge by a handheld recording device, behind a board or panel with a hole cut into it to give the impression that it is/was recorded surreptitiously.
I really hate to think that a woman as talented and capable as Ms. Andrews would stoop to such a low just to gain a little media attention, but I guess that's the world we now live in. I don't know what's more worrisome, the possibility that Ms. Andrews would do such a thing, or the fact that we as a society probably wouldn't be too surprised if she did. This type of stuff is now par for the course.
:/
Comments and rebuttals on my analysis are welcome. I'm just trying to figure this thing out, because as of right now it doesn't appear to be a "peephole" video made through a demising wall (at least to me).
