1. After my 1st ride on my dads 450 Scrambler in 1969 I knew I had to have one. I now have my dads old Ducati, and 4 more.

2.Sex appeal. Have you looked at them?
http://i475.photobucket.com/albums/rr116/stimacsays/1098%20parts/Fin10984-26-08045.jpg
3. Yes. I bought an old one yesterday.
4. I think they should do TV ads.
5.Need more imfo? Faster, No. Better brakes, yes. Handling, yes. Lighter, yes. Looks, yes. Value? Thats is too personal. For me? I am a cheap MOFO. But the $3000 more my 1098 cost over a CBR1000, it was a no brainer.
6. South Coast Australia Ouners club. Dont ask. Not in the states. I dont even ride with any one else that has a Ducati.
7. Very good. My ppl.
8. Yes. But also have other Gear. HJC and Joe Rocket to name a few. Ducati hats and T-shirts mostly. I do have some Ducati leather.

9. Yes. MV Agusta would be one I would love to have. Aprilla is nice. If I could no longer have Ducati, Honda would be my next choice.
10. I will say MV Agusta and the new V4 Aprilla is there only comp.

PS. I love photos of my bikes, if you could not tell.

1. It was cheap
2. It's a Ducati, they're secksay
3. Maybe
4. n/a
5. It was used. I got a good price on it.
6. Nope, I'm not about the "clique"
7. n/a
8. Ducati die cast toy motorcycles. But I change brand loyalties too often to have to have matching gear.
9. Aprilia, Bimota, Benelli & MV Agusta
10. Aprilia, in terms of similar kinds of bikes they have (SS, Sport touring, nakeds, Motards)

I own two Ducati's one for the street and one for the track:

1) I bought my first duc as a model year closeout. I own two 748's and think that era ducati is the best looking motorcycle ever. It has unique sound and character, and is one of the better handling motorycles I've ever ridden.

2) see above

3) yes

4) Ducati's marketing efforts are pretty interesting. They've done some really neat black and white phototgraphy with ducati riders in the photos with the bikes, but they are not widespread. You have to look for them. I think Ducati would be wise to expand their efforts to more mainstream media.

5) I bought my first ducati as a model year closeout and it was no more money than any of the 600's available from the big 4 at that time. "Value" is a hard concept, because I really enjoy riding my motorcycle, so it offers a value in that way alone.

6) no

7) Like all dealers, some are good and some are bad. I've had my best experiences at independent specialty service shops.

8) No

9) Substitue? not really. The Ducati is a unique motorcycle for it's engine layout and valve train. Are there competitors? yes. I think the Aprilia RSV4 is an extremely interesting motorcycle that would compete for my motorcycle dollars in the future. Also the MV Agusta F4. Bimota is no longer importing bikes to the US, so they are out.

10) see above

I own two Ducati's...if you like 'em, it's hard to stop at one. ;)

1. Bladecutter made me do it. Then he made me do it again. Then he bought one. No, we don't need an intervention!
2. I believe torque has already been mentioned? :D The handling is magnificent - what riding was meant to be like.
3. Does a junkie shoot up?
4. Who needs marketing when you can offer test rides? People don't really have to be talked into these bikes. You either want one or you don't.
5. I have one used, one new. Money wasn't bad. No Japanese bikes are even in the running for my money now.
6. I'm a wee bit anti-social, all I can do to make it here every now and then. :bat:
7. Home away from home.
8. Nope, but if you are giving things away... :D
9. Competition, yes. Substitutes, no.
10. Already been covered in previous posts.

1. I love the rumble of twin engines.
2. Torque and styling.
3. Most likely. My wife had recently purchased her 3rd Ducati last week.
4. I do enjoy the "premiere" of a new bike, went to the Monster and Streetfighter premieres this year.
5. Considering the state of the economy, I was able to get my Duc for much lower than blue book. Absolutely.
6. Yes
7. Didn't buy through a Ducati dealer, bought mine through an independent dealer in Utah.
8. Recently bought a Ducati jacket.
9. I would consider Bimota a substitute because it has a Ducati engine. The rest would be an alternative, but not a substitute. Before buying my S4R, I was also considering a Streetfighter, an '09 R1, or a used MV Augusta. There were certain aspects I looked for in my next bike, but I found such a good deal that I couldn't pass it up.
10. I would say the big 4 from Japan are all rivals for market share.
