I did not know where else to put this, but wanted to shere. Lots of photos, so here you go.

I just acquired a 1973 450 Desmo RT. Its the newer Scrambler, but has a different frame, and longer forks and shocks.
With the older Scrambler, it used the same frame and forks as the Mark 3 Desmo (a wise old man told me that).
Turn the foot peg bracket 180 deg. use the double heal shifter? Then a different mount for the brake? How about the kick starter?
And does any of this matter, as I'm using the last single wide case, so it may be a different beast all together.

The bike is low hours, and strait. Was bought new from my Uncles shop. He rode it in the Mountains with my Dad and Uncles in the 70s until about 1980 when he parked it after a ride with out washing it, and that's where it sat till now. I am the 2nd owner.

The rear 18" wheel is true, and has an aluminum rim, so we will most likely use it. Front wheel has a hop, but will be changed out in favor of a 19" Looking for a larger drum brake, or may just lace up a new rim?

The for seals are toast, and shocks are leaking, but I think we need shorter ones.

Dad put fresh gas in it, cleaned the carb, and it started right up. Smoked for a bit. Started it a few days later, 2nd kick, no smoke. YAH!!

Over all, as it sits, it would be a nice vintage MX bike, but my body cant race a modern MX bike, this thing would Kill Me.

All the cables are shot. Looking a making some out of modern dirt bike take offs I have lying around. That said, we have not ridden the bike yet. Cant pull the clutch or front brake.

I will post updates, and ask questions often. Please check back. I would love your help and input.

The disassembly begins.

Here's a look at the frame, early truss? I think so. Main tube with a triangulated tube on each side. Looks ridged to me.

The under side of the stock tank.

Lock wires not just for road racers. Haha. Add that missing stud to the shopping list.

If you are thinking that tricking out your Ducati is a new thing? Check out the Cigar lighter mounted under the head light. This on a bike running of a mag and no battery.

Dad says when Glen know there was a stop ahead, he would get the revs up, so it would not stall the bike when he pushed it in. When he would pull up to every one, the lighter would he ready. Smokem if you got them...

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.

My 75 year old dad is doing most of the work. I payed for the bike, and will be buying all parts and supplies.
Dad wanted a new project after finishing his last build this spring. Like a good son would do, I made work for him. Haha.

the bike will stay at his house as long as he wants to ride and show it off. I just want to race it at Miller with AHRMA.
