I love the hipster mentality. I just really don't like hipsters, themselves. To each my own I guess.

In 2003 Robert Lanham's satirical book The Hipster Handbook described hipsters as young people with "... mop-top haircuts, swinging retro pocketbooks, talking on cell phones, smoking European cigarettes,... strutting in platform shoes with a biography of Che Guevara sticking out of their bags."

Let's see, no mop-top, no pocketbook, a phone is not a social device for me, don't smoke, don't strut (much less in platform shoes http://www.boulder.swri.edu/%7Eterrell/images/goofy.gif) and no bag for a Che book. I guess I'm safe. :)

mehh... they're doing their own thing, more power to 'em...

I'll bet some of those guys put more miles on their mopeds in any given year then some of our resident keyboard captains do on their "real" motorcycles...

I'll remember that the next time I'm on a ride in their Brooklyn, NY hood.

I have no problem with miles, except I tend to do more than my tires, oil, bearings, chain, sprockets like.

dood, really can't stand hipsters...

which reminds me of a joke... How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb?

I couldn't care less if they are 'doin' their own thing' and how many clicks of the odometer that those parasitic east coast vermin tally up in any given year. Not only did I not miss the point I hit the nail squarely on the head.

They think they're Mods, but they're not.

Yeah, maybe not by N.Y. standards, but in S.C. you're so hip you can't see over your pelvis Bro.

Why does that picture make mopeds seem less cool than they already are?

cool is one word...to each there own

it seemed like the guys I met and tried to talk to at IMI had this attitude about them. I was honestly interested in their little machines and their cute little hobby, and they wanted nothing to do with me and my 'big bike' gixxer. I was simply trying to be friendly, and got a cold shoulder because I wasn't wearing girlpants and I ditched my black framed glasses years ago.

I guess mopeds are the next phase after you get tired of peddling your fixed gear around
