Perhaps you could help me join a super-cool, very exclusive, I-need-a-job club and charge members a dollar...pretty sure we could get quite a few people to join!

But I'm with ya, all I can find are door to door sales jobs. :(

Good luck on the hunt though!

Seems RTD is always hiring drivers.

My last job was with a sub-contractor of RTD. And when they canned me it wasn't a RTD matter. Maybe I could get another job with them?
I don't know if its a good time to get a job that I want or if I should get any old job. But I'm not picky really.

I like the idea about charging people while I'm out of work but I have learned that charging people to get a job while they need a job doesn't sound like a good business plan.

I think one of my problems getting a job is all the people out there that are more qualified then me and I think my old job is talking shit about me since I got unemployment benefits when they didn't want me to have them. We should set up some great referance network that we could have to ensure we get a good chance of getting a job.

You know, posting up what kind of skills you have or what kind of job you are looking at would be *slightly* helpful if you are expecting people to help you out.

And though individual people at an old job might talk shit about you, the company as a whole can't (legally) and therefore won't, and it's rather doubtful that a couple people talking shit would prevent you from getting any job anywhere else in the city....or, well, really anywhere.

Wow you really are a beotch! I love you:leghump: I haven't had that kinda mental abuse since my women left me. :slappers:

But I am willing to see if my theory that they are talking shit is real. Does anyone want to call them on my behalf acting like they are checking a reference? :alien:

But that's just it. I don't have any qualifications. I have some college 45 credits towards a paralegal degree. A GED. I have a clean driving record and I was doing that for 2 years.
I can type 35 wpm.
But all the rest of my skills I learned in real life. Mechanics, machining, welding, computers, electrical work (I was a signman's apprentice for a while you know the dim Quest sign downtown? I help put that up) never dabbled in carpentry although I think I would be good at it. So no paper to back up my skills and that seems to be hard for me to put on a resume.

Nice. You are great judge of talent sir.

I am still looking too David. Did some temp work for 3 guys off craiglist and got screwed all 3 times! Its bullshit, so I am re-schooling and changing careers for the first time in my life. I am actually going to do what I enjoy (hopefully). I think you looked on the same section that metalord 9 was suggesting? Seriously, I think you are on the right path and I am following you. I tried to enroll in MetroState down town to get some computer coarses going but after I filled out the app and gave them $25 I never heard from them again. And good luck dealing with those guys.

I hear the Obama Administration is hiring… Never finished college so I don't have a major in community organizing and minor in liberal bias. And I wouldn't want to take a job away from someone he owes a favor to like GE.

Oh my gosh...tip of the day. :yay: More abuse I think I like it.:leghump:

You could always get a job as a right wing extremist gun advocate radio personality..... You are not allowed to cuss on the radio and I am able or even unwilling to articulate my feeling in any other way regarding said gun rights. Weird.
Just kidding where do I sign up? Limbaugh is getting to long in the tooth to keep going and the liberal media attacks his vices instead of his message so I would be a great partner or successor to him. Although, you would hear shit about me like; he smokes cigarettes and drinks beer and even rides a motorcycle capable or speeds a little over a 180 MPH. He's a rightwing extremists!!

I've been actively searching for work since December 22nd with no real luck, so it's not really all that easy. I have a variety of skills that are well documented, and in reality there are a lot of people out there with the same situation. I congratulate you on finding a job so quickly.

That being said, there are probably more entry level positions available than anything else right now.

David - If you are really serious about the skills you have, being able to DEMONSTRATE them would be more important than being able to document them. I worked for years in a factory where we did a lot of welding. If someone came in the door and said "I know how to weld, you wanna hire me?" we'd say "sure, come over here to this welding rig and show us your skills". If they could weld, we would hire them.

Also, you should put together a resume, even if you don't think you have much to put on there. Write down all the jobs you've done in the last 5 years and the things that you had to do during that job. If you were a driver, then you had an immense amount of responsibility. Write down the number of miles per year that you drove professionally and the number of miles since your last accident or ticket. That demonstrates something that is valuable to an employer.

Good luck to all in their work search

Scott

RYBO: That's a good idea. I had my skills listed but not quite that way. I will re-write it and see how it comes out.
brennahm: No your not an A-hole, just employed. And my new best friend. Can I borrow some money? lol

My point was not that it's easy to find a job, simply that calling and emailing will get you nowhere. Unless of course you like riding the unemployment pony and prefer it to even a low paying job.

I would make more at a low paying job. What are you saying? Should I drive around aimlessly hoping to see a help wanted sign?
What did you do?
