So that's pretty much the first time that the US Navy has every been fired on by pirates since, what, the war of 1812? The Revolution?

Link broken? I'm getting a blank, "Untitled" tab when I try to access the site. Even www.msnbc.msn.com comes up as blank. Maybe it doesn't like Firefox on Ubuntu Linux (although it doesn't work with Firefox on XP or IE on XP but it's a good joke :) ).

I think it's funny that these pirates are under 24 hour UAV surveillance...

They should know that there's nowhere to go and shooting at helicopters does nothing to help their situation.

Umm, yeah. The last group of pirates merely *threatened* the US Navy and had their skulls ventilated by snipers on the deck of a carrier. These guys have basically openly declared a cute little war on the USN by firing at an aircraft. I'm guessing they won't be home for dinner...

You might try a bigger pic. I can read "Agro Control". I can't make out the rest.

I would love to see the US take a "f' this" approach to these types of situations. What going to happen? The somolian army (no active government) is going to declare war. I can hear the somolian commander right now. "Get you thickest sweatshirts...i mean armor and AK-47's. We're going to fight!"

Yeah, shoot at the heavily armed guys that are REALLY bored and somewhat pissed off that all the "action" is getting had by the Army and Marines. Makes sense to me.

I bet the guys manning that chopper would give up a months pay to return fire.

Hell I'd give up a months pay to let them return fire...
