I had that happen recently, while closing an account. Because of them being possibly audited they have to keep their books correct. So while the amount was less than the postage they had to treat it like any other check.

I remember one time my credit card company sent me a bill for something like $0.07. I called them up and said "You don't really expect me to write a check and put a $0.30+ stamp on an envelope and mail it to you do you?". They were pretty cool about it and said I didn't have to pay it. :D

I had my truck loan at a credit union. The payment was the same every month. I made the last payment. The next month I got a bill for $0.02 for some type of "accrued interest" on the loan.

I called them to see if they were serious and was informed 'it's all automatic". Ya think someone might change the parameters so if it's less than a damn stamp you just let it go.
