last weekend I was out for riding some new passes i'd never been over before and on the south side of Ohio Pass I came across this spectacular view
for those that do not know, Ohio pass is west of Crested Butte off hwy 12 down forest road 730 if I recall, i'm looking west towards Paonia(I think)
anyone know what this mountain is called? found a few references to the obvious "castle mountain" but theres another castle peak in the Elk range which doesnt fit.. anyways, the pics:

I've been trying to find the info, but have only found this site. If you scroll down to the info on Ohio Pass, it gives information of the "Castles".

I also found this info about the Castles, but nothing giving it another name.

Oh and btw...damn, I gotta go there, too. Absolutely gorgeous :-)

Forget the mountains, how do you like the R12?
I think it's Funky looking, but it's up there on my ST list.

I love the R12RT for two up touring. I used to ride a Triumph Sprint ST but my wifes knees would get pretty locked up after a half day on the bike whereas on the RT I can do 450 miles of mountain pass riding in a day with no complaints, plus it handles great.
many people aren't a fan of the boxer engine and I gotta admit, it's a little quirky sometimes, especially early on when I went from an inline3 to this but she delivers power nicely and after putting 40k miles on it I couldn't imagine ever selling her.

awesome.. The Castles it is, searching for that plus west elk got me to this google books result (http://books.google.com/books?id=AbCIlRpU7AcC&pg=PA150&lpg=PA150&dq=%22the+castles%22+west+elk&source=bl&ots=zc9T6mLzmE&sig=N7NRFl5XgYDlEXUOfSyxd6ZAQ5g&hl=en&ei=AXm6Sq6-K6Oqtge08b2BDw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2#v=onepage&q=%22the%20castles%22%20west%20elk&f=false) which has more info on where they are.. i was wondering if there was some road that got closer to them that i'd never been on before but it looks like FR 730 is about it... i need to get an enduro bike.
and yes, last weekend the colors were just starting to come out nicely, i suspect this weekend it's going to be awesome around Crested Butte..
