For all of you future KLR owners, always remember that the petcock needs to be pushed forward (when sitting on the bike) and not backwards.

ex: Picture this, you are commuting down 36 at 75 mph @ 6:30am and forgot to reset the trip odo at the last fillup, and end up running out of gas (because the KLR is to cheap to have a low fuel light). When you realize this is happening you quickly reach down and push the petcock backwards. This would be a mistake. The engine will completely die and lock up the rear tire. So while you're putzing with the petcock, you are unable to pull in the clutch. Thus, fishtailing all over as the bike is dieing and coming to a standstill with people in cars approaching very quickly.

So, push the petcock forward. :banghead:

This has been a Public Service Announcment.

In the 10 commandments of motorcycling commandment #1 is "Know thy bike"I "almost" had it. That's why I knew where it was without looking, and that it went forward and backward. I just lost the coin toss. :(

Betcha I never make that mistake again!

I was referring to the prius being the devel you know versus the 1/2 ton chevy being the devil you don't actually... How could I refer to a Kawi being the devil?? :D :p

Badass, man! Kathy Saban said "...and this picture is from Jeff Loh" and I woke Lindsey up going "J-Lo's Picture is on TV! Kathy Saban said his name!"

Did any carbed bike have a fuel light? Especially of this generation!

Dunno about dual sports but my 1990 carbed V4 has a low fuel light. And I think they were doing back in '86

Did any carbed bike have a fuel light? Especially of this generation! It's a 2009. Although in all fairness, I guess most of the KLR is 1985 technology!

Still. A fuel light on a carbed bike is very rare. They are even rare on carbed cars.
