The Incline is the sh*t- LOVE that thing! Used to get out there every weekend, but haven't done it in over a year.

Breaking the 40 minute mark on the ascent is considered to be pretty damn good for a regular person who only makes it out there once in awhile. FYI: heard that when he's training at the USOC, Apollo Ohno runs up it in 15 friggin' minutes. What a jerk. (hehe)

It looks cool. I'd give it a go.

Is it a hike? Or are you pretty much crawling up all 4's because it's so steep? And is it only what's shown in the pic? It doesn't look that long.

Pretty much crawling the whole way. Everytime I drive by it my knees start hurting and my heart threatens to quit on me just thinking about it. It'd almost be easier to hike the road up Pike's Peak, lol.

Seriously, standing at the bottom of the thing is just :jawdrop:

During last year's winter olympics they showed the US women's hockey team training on it.

I believe it's 1 mile long, 2100ft elevation gain. 50-deg incline at its steepest point.

Doesn't look that long in the photo because there's a frustrating false summit.

Going up hammers the quads, a$$, and lungs, but I'm too chicken to descend (jog the 4mile descent down Barr Trail instead). Not only is it steep, but it also has dangerous obstacles: rusty rebar, old railway ties, and metal pipes with teeth-edged holes poke out randomly between the 'stairs,' which are of varying heights themselves and often covered with sand/gravel that can act like marbles.

Earlier this summer, a guy impaled his leg when he slipped:

But these risks seem to make it attractive!!! That, along with the fact that it's still ILLEGAL. They ARE working to make it legal due to its popularity, but the complications arise from different sections of the Incline being owned by 3 different entities (I think).

Yes I did it this weekend it's all leg...think couple spots I was doing fours for a sec. That false summit is a bitch not not mention that the challenge really starts after the false summit!! Sooo it kills you, laughs, and says that was nothing, here is your next 5 deaths!

The wife and I did it on Friday. It's the ultimate stair stepper! Not for weak knees that's for sure.
We did the blue loop and came down the Barr trail. I think that's like 4.5 miles total?

Holy fack.

I don't know about that. I would be scared of getting halfway and having my knees collapse and tumble down 4000000000000 flights of stairs.

I'm one of those crazies that likes to run up Barr trail - done the PP Ascent several times. It's been a couple years since I've done the Incline, might be "fun" to organize something if anyone wants to try it.
