Thanks for the heads up! I saw one of those here with the Ninja, can;t remember which. The one thru Russia? It was awesome! Can't wait to see the other one. Although, I'm kinda a candyass about living rough like that. It's a hell of an adventure, just not for me! I love watching it though and seeing the posts on ADVrider.

^^ Russia was the first one "Long Way Round". The second, "Long Way Down" was through Africa.

IMO, the first one was better. It was much more about two guys on an Epic adventure. The second one just felt rushed and lacked a lot of that "adventure" feeling.

Both were great shows, but I prefer the first one.

Also, rumor has it that they were planning "Long Way Up". South America up through North America. Haven't heard anything about it in a while though.

**edit** after some googling, the latest rumor is that the trip's going down Spring of 2011... here's to hoping.

:imwithstupid: The second one was only good towards the end. Part of the reason I own a ds now.

+1 the second journey wasn't as "adventure" as the first.

I've never seen either and the initial show last night had me laughing. Esp the KTM vs. BMW discussions :cussing::slap::lol:

I definatly enjoyed " 'round" more then "down". I also had a chuckle on the Bimmer vs KTM.

The Long Way Round came first - England to New York going East

Then Race to Dakar (only Charlie, no Ewan)

Then Long Way Down - Scotland to the Southern tip of Africa

IMO, the Race to Dakar was the most fun to watch. It was also the most emotionally charged series. Ewan tends to be a bit of a camera pig and sometimes he got in the way of the adventures. His wife also really soured the second trip.

I have all of them on DVD if anyone wants to borrow them.

His wife also really soured the second trip. Agreed. Road to Dakar was really good. A little slow on the start (aren't they all) but turned out giving a really good idea about the race. And Charley was kind of whiny in the beginning though, too.

BTW: it would have been awesome if they had ridden KTM 950 Adventures!!!!

Dude. You're killing me here...

Do you actually HAVE them or did you just buy them at one time and couldn't quite put your hands on them right now if you had to?

They are all lined up in front of me at my computer. I plan on watching all of them today and tomorrow :)

I MAY have to make some archival backups of each one for posterior sake.

Current is replaying this all week. The episodes will be on every Tues night. I have something better to watch now rather than The Biggest Loser. LOL

Proper disaster recovery plans dictate offsite storage of archival data. I can offer you that location... and the media to store them, you know, for archival purposes.

And it never hurts to have multiple redundancy backups, just sayin. ;)

We were in South Africa a couple weeks ago and met two french guys putting Ewan to shame (we were at a tiny shop in a nowhere village in Lesotho). ride-the-world.net has their stories and pictures of their 'hard way around' on a couple KTMs with no support crew. They are nearly finished with Africa and about to fly to Argentina to do South America and should be in Colorado in 10-12 months when they might stay with us.

ADVrider is chalked full of them all over the world. I don't think that was the purpose of the show. I think the idea was to get the idea of dual sporting out to the world. The ride-the-world guy are nuts/awesome!

There are plenty of riders more hardcore, but if not for this show I might have never discovered dual sporting.
