I just glanced out my window and saw smoke coming up from the general direction of the Four Mile Canyon fire. This one looks close. Pics soon...

Yep, the smoke is coming through the mouth of Boulder Canyon now, so I suspect it's pretty close.

The little breaking news thing on 9 news says it's a small fire with no structures threatened at this time... hopefully to stay that way!

That blows...at least the wind is not as much of a factor. I know they're doing prescribed burns at Bear Creek Lake park this week.

Looks like a mountain fart, nothing more.

The smoke is getting thick north of the office.

Sounds like it is around mile marker 40 in the canyon, so about a mile west of here.

From a colleague who lives in the hills:

It's on the north side of the pullout for the Boulder Creek Path and climbing area. It's burning very vigorously. There were a lot of Parks and Rec, fire dept., and other responders there. We saw a sheriff's deputy going door-to-door at the houses right at the first big curve into Boulder Canyon.

Dirk, you better evacuate. With temps in the upper 70's today, you'd be far safer on one of your bikes than sitting there in the office.

Be safe my friend!

From another colleague who lives near Ned and was driving into work:

There are about 25 sheriff's and fire vehicles on the straight stretch of Canyon, half-a-mile west of where it goes into the mountains, and lots of smoke. They were setting up cones and I expect the road to be closed any minute.

Flames have engulfed whole ponderosas on a ridge a 1000 feet north of that part of Canyon, about half-a-mile west of the red rocks. The wind is blowing, not too strongly, toward the east-northeast.

Probably not in too much danger right here but if I see flames crest the ridge above the red rocks, I'll be hopping on the VFR and heading out.

I'm sure air quality is your immediate threat. You must evacuate to cleaner air.

Just lookin out for ya. Let me know if you need any other excuses, I have a few to spare.

So far they seem to have stopped its advance in this direction with a couple of retardant drops. Frank, at the moment I'm going to stay put and try to get some stuff done.
