Did anyone else notice that they went to commercial with 9 laps to go and then came back with 4 laps left? What kind of bullshit is that?! They need to get rid of their annoying announcer and his interviews at the beginning and show us the full race.

they need to just do picture in a picture during commercials. i mean, they are the only major motorsports coverage in the USA. they should put commercials down in the bottom left corner while the race is goin on, like spain does. like we really give a shit about what I shave my face with while im trying to watch nascar and drink my beer. in our case, watch motogp and eat cereal....

They don't broadcast enough races as it is and then they ruin it. What cromer said about Spain sonds like a good idea oh and yeah get rid of that announcer.

Greg Creamer sucks! Stop saying "Lorentho". I swear he has never watched a MotoGP race in this entire life.

But at least we get races in HD, since the BBC just figured out that was possible.

BBC was doing it last year, along with Eurosport. Speed's the last to get it right, but they're getting it wrong w/ that guy on there.

I think he sucks too, but "Lorentho" is how it is pronounced in the region of Spain Jorge comes from.

But we're in America, and no one pronounces it that way here. Not even the world feed guys. He just sounds like an idiot. And if we didn't have his yapping at the beginning, we might not have had to skip 5 laps during a commercial to catch up.

"Hor-hay Loren-tho" ... or George Lorenzo, if you're gonna be consistent. :D

Not trying to defend Speed, but the missing laps issue is because Speed is carrying it live. This is also why we dont see the rider interviews. As I and I would suspect most people record it anyway to watch at a more convenient time than the wee hours of Sunday morning, I would like to see it go back to same day delay broadcast as this would allow the producers to fit all the race action and the rider interviews in the allotted hour.

I wish Speed would get rid of him and the stupid-ass Royal Purple Pre-Race bullshit too. I always liked seeing the post race interviews.

The worst thing Speed does is use Greg White, Scott Russell, and what's-his-face for the Laguna and Indy rounds of MotoGP. Russell knows what he's talking about, but his voice is annoying as hell.

They aren't going to finish 5 laps in the 2-3 minute commercial slots, that's just not going to happen. So their "live coverage" claim is crap.

You mean Forrest Gump? I like what he has to say w/ the AMA races, but I just don't like to hear his voice.

Well... you could always deal with the torrents and get the races, or maybe buy a subscription to motogp.com and stream them live. No commercials, no SPEED crap, no fuss.

I know, then there'd be something else to complain about...

They should make it a 1-1/2 hour show. They can waste 2+ hours of airtime with pre-"race" NASCRAP coverage of Jimmy Johnsons dog, waste another 4 hours with the roundy-round itself, then another 2 hours post-rage coverage? Plus all the other 2-hr NASCRAP shows on daily? Enough already. Give us some pre-race coverage, ALL the what, 22 laps?, then some good post-race coverage. We deserve it.

Did that for the last couple years, but got tired of waiting for someone to post it up.

We have half the wheels, so we only get half the coverage.

Well... Until MotoGP fills the stands in the US, I wouldn't hold my breath for any of this to change. Indianapolis has a 250,000+ seating capacity. MotoGP sold around 70,000 tickets total this year. Now I know that due to track layout, a large number of these seats wouldn't be used, but when we were there, it was obvious that the attendance was minimal for a facility that size.

We all know who owns SPEED, we all also know what kind of money NASCAR brings in. Until MotoGP can bring in better numbers and better cash, it's just not going to happen.

It sucks, but it's true.

I really miss the pre-nascar speed channel. They had some great shows on.

USGP at Laguna sells out, I'm guessing the venue and location has more to do with it than Indy. It's just a better spectator track.

Leguna is a relatively small track considering some of the other locations MotoGP races. 2010 attendance was 51,000 for Sunday's race.

What are companies like nascar and speed concerned with... Simple, advertising. If you can make millions of rednecks stare at Viagra and M&M ads for 4 hours at a time, why concern yourself with fractional populations of motorcycle enthusiasts.

That's all I'm saying... it's a numbers game and we're way on the short side.

I agree with all that. I also think the pre-NASCRAP-TV was better too. But, I think that the more exposure MotoGP and bike racing gets, with some of those awesome on-bike shots, that there would be more fans. Anyone that has any adrenaline in their system would love it if they actually saw it. It's just that it never gets the prime-time/prime-channel exposure and the advertising it deserves. You see ads for the NASCRAP races weeks in advance with, but little for the USGP at Indy or Laguna. I think it's getting a LITTLE better, but. Hmmm, here's an idea, how about having the MotoGP race as a support race for the Indy 500? Do it the day before, and make sure a lot of the on-bike shots are on the big screens?

I dunno Frank, I think they could actually LOSE GP attendance numbers in that case. I know that I'd be real hesitant to go if that were the case. I have absolutely zero interest in anything nascar and it turns my stomach enough that I would not pay to go to a GP race and have to deal with all of the Indy 500 crap at the same time. But that is just me.

Agreed...

Everyone we spoke to in Indy when spoke of the Indy 500 as the holy grail of all things internal combustion related. I wasn't a huge fan of crowds and the like with 60K people there, I would hate to be there with 260K!

Um, the Indy 500 is not NASCRAP cars, it's the Indycars (the ones Mario Andretti, the Unsers, AJ Foyt, Paul Tracey, Alex Zanardi, etc.) used to run. In talking with some of the Indycar fans, and a couple guys I know that were involved with racing/building the cars, there is an interest there for seeing the bikes. That'd be GREAT exposure, better than you could ever buy, in terms of both TV coverage and people in the stands, and, who wouldn't want to see the Indy 500?

Didn't Nicky Hayden do some demo laps on his Ducati last year (2009) before the Indy 500 for promotional purposes? Seems familiar..

Any exposure would be good... I just hope for more then the attention given to a high school marching band during the half time of an NFL game...
