My wife just bought a 32gb ipod touch. Turns out her current mac os (10.4.11) does not work for the new ipod touch and it needs 10.5.8 or higher. When i select the apple (at the top of the screen) then mac os x software, it takes me to an apple address where all the downloads are located. All of the os's 10.5.1-10.5.8 all require os x 10.5 however there is no 10.5 download anywhere on the site. Does anyone know where i can get the 10.5 download then the 10.5.8 download? Or know of a different route?

Not sure but I think 10.4 was Tiger. You may have to pony up some cash to get Leapard (10.5) or Snow Leapard (10.?).

I don't think you can even buy 10.5 any more. You'll probably need to go get snow leopard, 10.6.

You can buy snow leopard for $29 from the Apple Store, but if you don't have an Intel Mac, you can't run anything newer than 10.5.

I could probably find the install disc for either one if you're interested. You could probably also find an illegitimate copy on BitTorrent.

Anyway sounds like it's covered but I have a Leopard (10.5) disc available as well, if the proc will support it.

I know he got arrested, that's why it's funny, lol.

Anyway, isn't Lion or whatever supposed to be right around the corner?

And, do these updated versions of Mac OS not require license keys or anything like that? I've never owned a Mac...

Dunno about when the next one is coming. They don't use keys, but I think they also make their money in other places and assume there will be some percentage of piracy no matter what they do. $29 is also cheap, so a lot of people that might bootleg a copy of Windows would just pay the $29 to get an actual DVD.
