A few months ago I picked up a 2000 CBR 929rr that had been set down. This particular bike was already with a salvage title so it has a checkered past. After a bit of work it's back on the road a in the short times I've got it out lately pretty fun. Can't wait for a good warm winter day to get it out and stretch it's legs.

How it looked when I got it.

Wow, I can't believe the before and after shots! The bike looks sweet as hell now. Great job on saving it from the crusher. Enjoy!

WOW! Even all fixed up, the 929 is still ugly as sin.

:puke:

Disclaimer: I ride a Kawasaki Versys. I know what an ugly bike looks like. Therefore, my assessment of the 929 aesthetics can be considered an expert's insight.

Looks good man! The pipe looks like it is the same but just without that wrapping on it. You can always slip a clamp in there to try and straighten it out a bit but overall the bike looks tons better!!

fix on fixas

Is that the same set of rubber in the before & after? If so you're a brave man...

Other than that, looks sick. 8)

Thanks for all the kind comments.

@Dr. Joe - The mid-pipe was crushed in a bit from some previous lay over I suppose, and covered in heat wrap so I took that crap off. Besides the odd dent, it has a strange pattern due to the heat tape.

@R1-Laubinero - I love the trunk, although it's long since lost the lock so I'll look at a remote release.

@King Nothing - Ouch, that wasn't nice.

@Sarge - Why? - Tires are approx 1 year old with plenty of tread?

It just looks like that bike ate it. I'd be concerned about potential structural damage in the sidewalls or something, maybe a tear in the belts. Unexpected tire failures at high speeds are no fun.

Race bikes crash every weekend, and unless the tires/wheels are visibly damaged no one worries about tire integrity.

Nice job on the bike:cheers:

Thanks. The funny thing was the color choice was determined by left over paint in me and my neighbors garage.

I wouldn't worry too much about this... KN wouldn't know a good looking bike if it snuck up on him in the woods, pinned him down and made him squeal like a pig.

^^^this is true...in a past life Doug did have some taste for 2 wheelers, esp the Zed.
