Does anyone look for gold during the summer as a hobby?

I think I'd be the same. I don't expect to make money, or even break even, but I'd to find something to show for my time. Thanks for sharing your experience.

there was some degenerate on "16 and pregnant" who took up panning in the river as a second job to support his family. he spent like 90 dollars on supplies and they actually talked about it all with a straight face.

I had property in northern cali which was a huge gold mining area back in the day. I once found a small solid flake.

My buddy is semi serious about it... homebuilt dredge the he hauls way up old trails in his jeep. He has recouped his investment and then some over the course of the summer. Might join him next summer.

I certainly wouldn't approach it as anything more than a hobby.
