Sidekicks Saloon (http://www.sidekickssaloon.net/) in Federal Heights will be holding Meat Raffles every Tuesday at 7:00PM, and every Saturday at 2:00PM, with benefits going to ABATE of Colorado (http://abateofcolo.org/). They will be raffling off Steaks, Pork Chops, Chicken, and a variety of other meats (including BACON ). Tickets are 50 cents each. For every $10 of tickets you buy, you will get 2 free tickets. Each winning ticket allows you to pick one of the remaining items from the table, with a Grand Prize drawing at the end of each raffle.

For those of you that only know ABATE because for their rider eduction aspect, or because they're the anti-helmet-law group, they're much more than that...

ABATE is dedicated to:

Fostering brotherhood and unity among its members.
Promoting motorcycle safety and education for both riders and the public.
Monitoring the government on all levels regarding issues affecting motorcyclists.
Improving driver awareness in an effort to make the roads safer for motorcyclists.
Reporting the facts about issues concerning motorcyclists and counter any biased news reporting concerning motorcyclists.
Presenting and reporting a positive public image of motorcycling in Colorado and the nation, and Discouraging motorcycle theft.

Another thing that ABATE of Colorado does, is offer help to fallen riders, through it's Randy Run Fund (http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=37587). The Randy Run Fund is completely donation-driven, and some or the proceeds raised from the meat raffles will go to that.

PS: Sidekicks Saloon has some pretty tasty wings. :yumyum:
Oh, and in case you haven't figured it out yet, Sidekicks is a biker-friendly establishment. http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/images/MB/emoticons/sportbike.gif

They want fresh meat for the raffle b/c it is 'better to look at' when the winner goes up for their prize, not frozen. I will not be able to donate to the cause.

I guess, at least in some cases, fresh meat does look more appetizing (especially if you're comparing it to a sealed box with a label on it). Bummer.
