Anyone ever had this? I am pretty sure I have this in my right arm from many years of weight lifting. Anyone have suggestions to make it better?

Yeah I know I need to go to the doctor, but haven't made it there yet. If anything I am thinking of going to a sport injury doctor. So very mad over this....

Stop for awhile... let it heal. It's repetitive stress. Stop the repetition.

I can't stop, I am addicted to working out :puppy: I need a magic cure!!!

I actually stopped lifting upper body for a week now and it still hurts when I lift on it. I guess I can do lots of legs, cardio, and abs for another week and see how it goes. This sucks...

I've got the same problem, started back in Basic Training a few years back. Comes and goes, best thing to do is ease off of it as much as possible. It's probably going to stick around unless you get surgery. A guy I work with had a bad case that was causing numbness in his last two fingers and they cut open his elbow and tied in some mesh and the like. Haven't really talked to him since the surgery to find out how it went.

Work it in a completely different way. Don't use it in the continuously same way. My carpal tunnel was AWFUL when I was 17, but I learned to control it without surgery. natural keyboard, trackball, and understanding that my constant wrist movements of moving a mouse, were what were further damaging my wrist and the feeling in my hand. I would do specific exercises with my wrist that I still do today. 15 years later, I can feel my entire hand without any surgery.

Keep working it just do less weight for a while. I have elbow pain from worlking out too, but the pain is worse when I do not work out.

Thanks Puckster, but it is actually on the inside of my elbow; that is for
Tennis elbow. Golfer's is the opposite side. Here:

same exercises. you would want to work and stretch both muscle groups anyway, despite lateral or medial.

I would give it a few weeks to rest. You "can" lift, but it should be extremely light/high rep stuff, if you absolutely feel you have to. Give it a few weeks of stretch and the exercises outlined above and you would be better off. It's your arm, it's your call. Should be aware that its likely to be a recurring theme though. You'll have to back off for a little bit when it starts to get grumpy again.

I have the same pain on the medial side of both elbows……for way over a year now. MTB riding seems to be the initial cause. Bicep curls are the worst. I’ve just been ignoring it cuz I don’t expect it to go away any time soon….if ever. I do those same stretches.

Been there done it, that damn pain lasted a year and the minute I swung my new Irons the muscles tore and I'm down again. Love Golf but Tired of the pain. (btw I tore my forearm / elbow crap installing a alternator on a truck with too small of a serpentine belt , damn friends). Needles to say I will be posting my clubs up for sale soon.

I go to a Sports Injury doctor tomorrow to see what the damage is. I have still been able to lift weights using a support band, not locking my elbows, no extremely heavy weight, ice/heat, ibuprophen, and rest, so I am hoping it gets better.

That's funny, haven't read the thread till just now but I got Tendonitis in my ankle on Sunday and have been working on it. Ice buckets seem to help the most. Lots of ice in water. Submerge the area for 5-6 minutes followed by 15 minutes out of the water. Repeat at least 2 more times.

Work out with light enough weights that it doesn't hurt, if it hurts then use less weight or stop.

Good luck at the dr.

Update: So I went to the sports injury doctor and they have me doing exercises with a device called the "Thera-Band Flexbar" and it really seems to work so far. I recommend this to anyone with tennis/golfers elbow or to even strengthen grip and wrist. This is it:

http://www.thera-band.com/store/products.php?ProductID=20

There are a bunch or exercises to do on Youtube for this.

I also have a few arm braces I am using while lifting that really relieve the pressure.
Doctor gave me this one: http://www.amazon.com/Bauerfeind-Epipoint-Elbow-Strap/dp/B00145EUTW/ref=cm_lmf_tit_17

I got stabbed beating up some punk for making fun of my ego!

Update: Started using Weighlifters straps and really helps since they take the pressure off hand grip. These are them:

Ever since my arm came out of the cast in August/Sept/whenever it was, I can't believe how much it hurts to work out. Bench press? Anything over 255 and it hurts around the fracture site. Skullcrushers, tricep extensions, cable pulldowns? Damn near unbearable pain during the first two or three reps. Curls? GTFO!

Sorry to hear what you're going through, but I can relate!

Sorry to hear what you're going through, but I can relate! Yeah all my past injuries have caused alot of the problems I have now. Broke my hip when I was younger and that lead to my back pain and months of PT. Got stabbed by this punk gangster which has lead to my tendon problems in that arm. All I can say is keep going to the gym/PT and slowly working it out and the others muscles around it eventually compensate and get stronger. Ever since I strengthened my core, the back problems went away. This arm thing bothers, but I know the PT and stuff at the gym I am doing on it will work. Just take it slow and listen to your body and if it is bad pain, stop and see if something else works better.

Also check out which braces are out there because it is amazing how much they can help!

The moral of the story is injuries are forever and never truly go away, but hard work makes a huge difference.

Aw Nate, don't get upset! I'd never make fun of you (to your face) :D :D :D :D No worries I don't get upset easily, contrary to your roid rage allegations  If anything one day I am going to get you into the gym with me and hurt you with good ole exercise soreness :D

If there's one thing I can't stop doing it's going to the gym! I'm there at 5am every morning before work. I knew it would hurt like hell. If I can't do skullcrushers, I go to a machine. Same with bicep curls. It's just frustrating because I know I lost some muscle mass and gained a bunch of fat when I was broken.

I didn't see anyone mention joint support supplements. Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate with MSM works really well. I'm taking Controlled Labs Orange Triad. It's a pretty darn good multivitamin with a lot of joint support. I've had the elbow issues for a few years. It usually bothered me most when I was working super heavy and doing a lot of heavy tri work. It sucks cuz all you can do is lay off...

Yup I started on the Glucosamine supps a few months back when it started and it seems to have helped. I also am doing a Fish Oil supp too. I just wish I would have started when I was younger as I have read it does more to help prevent than repair damage.

Yeah right, lay off my workout! You crazy! Seriously though I have layed off some and found others ways to lift without causing the pain; braces, ice, ibuprofen, lifter straps, PT exercises, and stretches. I really think the Flex-Bar exercises are helping a lot and highly recommend them

Not sure if anyone is following this, but figured I would add to it ins case it does help anyone out.

Started on cream called Penetrex which got very good reviews for helping Tendonitis/Arthritis. Figured it is worth a try. So far with all this I have greatly diminished my golfer's elbow pain and am back to being at the gym 5 days a week able to lift heavy again

it took mine a few years not feel awkward when lifting...even now, it will sometimes bother me...the last time it got bad was back to back track day and race school, my wrist didn't like to be twisted like that, it was soreand swollen for a week afterward.

I would really recommend you get the Flex-Bar I posted and do those exercises. It really helps to build up those muscles/tendons that don't get worked much. I will continue to use it even after the pain is gone just to build up the wrist/hands/forearms.
