I like how they've retained the perimeter rotor technique.

nice a chain! Wonder what msrp will be, guessing about 15k.

That is pretty nice. I like the way the Buells handle, but I never cared for the Harley engine. When they finally changed over to the Rotax, HD axed the line. Any idea who's building them or who's going to be dealing them?

ETA: I am not a fan of the 749 headlight style it has, or what looks like the single caliper on the front wheel.

Freakin' sweet. hellforleathermagazine.com did a decent writeup on it. sounds like it will cost around $40k and they'll all be hand built since he's expecting to only make 100 of them.

Well, for $40k, I'll pass. I understand it's hand-built and it'll probably be a great ride, but I imagine half of them will sell to AMA race teams.

Meh. The perimeter brake was outdated and inefficient technology years ago.

Chances are the thing is wider than a school bus. And being that Mr. Buell gets fellated by AMA on the reg, they will probably make this bike run against the 600's.

That's a very nice looking bike. The rear wheel reminds me of the VF1000R wheels.

It looks the business. Sounds like EB is making just enough for homologation.

^ My thoughts exactly.

It's running in the Superbike class against the 1000cc inline fours and the other 1200cc v twins i.e. Duc1198 and KTM RC8R.

About time it was a fair fight.

Wow....that looks pretty good. Don't like the headlights on top of each other, but damn the rest looks good.

First Buell that doesn't look like a 3rd grader drew it. I like how it looks.

+1 on him sticking with that horrible front brake.

So in order to take the front wheel off, you have to remove the forks? The caliper is on the inside of the disk. wtf?

My guess is you can remove the wheel without even unbolting the caliper. Probably just slide the wheel towards the motorcycle to get it off the rotor. Hard to tell from the pic though.

It almost looks like the lower bracket for the caliper is a hinge, and will allow it to move away from the wheel once the axle is removed:

Actually you don't have to remove caliper, pull the axle, push wheel back and down and the disc is out of the caliper and free.
Erik Buell designs everything with function in mind. ZTL brakes are quite powerful and reduce the need for reinforcement in the front wheel, which in turn makes for a very light front wheel.

The lower "arm" looks to be a air duct for cooling.

Good call that's exactly what it looks like.

**Scratches head**

but wouldn't an outside rotor produce more force and stress on the wheel during braking? Thus needing a stiffer wheel?

You have a longer lever arm to apply the same torque to the wheel, so the force at each attachment point will be lower.
