View Full Version : distancing myself from the asshole ethiopeans next door...

Looking for some input. My asshole neighbor and his twin midget brother are constantly being loud and shuffling cars around, normally I could care less but we're talking 10:30pm and sometimes as late as 2 am. I am over it I yelled at them and my prego light sleeper wife even snapped at them last night. So short of chasing them out of the neighborhood(which seems like a lot of work as they've mentioned all the help they get from the govt being resident aliens and all). Our master bedroom sits three feet from prop line & their driveway is also close to the front/side corner of my house.

The to-do list so far consist of replacing all room windows with double pane. Adding a 6' wood privacy fence along property line and over to corner of house(currently no fencing/separation except towards the back corner of house). And finally I would like to add bushes or shrubs along the rest of my prop line of at least 5' so if I do have to see this dipshit it will only be his hair.

Any other input on gaining noise separation from a rude asshole immigrant neighbor?

Sounds like a good plan to me, and make sure to have the local PD on speed dial. I don't even try and talk to my loud neighbors anymore (luckily, they were evicted), I just call the security company, and if they don't get them to shut up, they'll call the police. That usually shuts them up real quick.

And if you do end up going the police route, and they aren't here legally, I'm sure they'll be A LOT more quiet after they see the cops pull up.

I'd study some codes. If they're "shuffling cars around" maybe there's a business being run there that they can't legally do...

Or something along those lines. And BTW, I know plenty of red blooded americans who are just as ignorant/useless/rude/subsidized.

Are they renters? If so, they are breaking their lease. Look into "quiet enjoyment" clauses and contact the landlord

i had neighbors like that once. they were illegal and from iraq or something. im with the illegal business thing. i cant think of a good reason, or any reason at all to shuffle cars around late at night. or even during the day to say the least. other than new windows i cant think of any way to deaden the noise. 1 thing i would do to piss them off is put up a shit load of motion sensor lights and put them directly at there house. so when there out and about there actions are lit up like broadway!

not sure if they rent or own, I know the guy & his brother(poss others) run a buy here pay here car lot. I'm all for calling the police but we're talking about a matter of only 1-2 mins asides from intermittent drunken cigarette rants out front. I do like the motion light idea though, except it will light up through my rooms windows. I'm waiting to see one or the other of them since I've cooled down to A:get an apology to my wife and B:simply explain there is no reason or justification for the noise they make that late and I will be calling the police if noise is excessive. If that doesn't work maybe bad bad things will start happening to the cars they bring home from the lot?????

You might also consider a camcorder to record the activity and keep a log book. The police are more likely to get involved when you have well recorded information then you calling and ranting about your neighbors all the time.

If that doesn't work maybe bad bad things will start happening to the cars they bring home from the lot?????
is not something I would put on an online forum for a number of reasons. I would talk to them reasonably first. If that doesn't work, then alert the authorities, and decide from there what to do. Don't get me wrong, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, but don't post about it. Then it's premeditated.

Have you talked to the face to face? Tell them that the moving of cars at "o-dark-thirty" is pissing off your wife...which in turn makes you an unhappy husband/neighbor. If they are cool about it end of story...if they continue thier night owl moves go with what Salsa stated.

If you've made rational requests (not "shut the fuck up, assholes") for them to keep it down, and maybe even tried explaining that your wife is preggo, then call the cops and file a report. There are laws regarding this type of thing, and you have every right to expect certain things where you live (like quiet at 2am). Nothing will happen the first time or two the police visit, but they will have it on record.

Do bear in mind however that your asshole neighbor will likely determine who called the po-po on them, so consider in advance whether they're the type to do something really stupid in retaliation. Dropping in a security camera or two in inconspicuous places might not be a bad idea; I have them on my house, complete with IR night vision, hooked up to a PC that records on motion (so I am not chewing up disk space on nothing - plus it's easy to find when things are happening). I can even get to it via my phone's web browser anywhere if I want to check up on things. If you have even the slightest indication that things could escalate, make sure you have the ability to prove who did it. As an aside, cameras are also a useful theft deterrent and thieves do look for them.

Good luck with the assholes. We had folks like that a couple doors down once, though the SWAT team splintered the door one day and escorted them to prison. It was only after that we learned they were running a crack house (seriously, we just thought they were white trash fuckheads). Made me feel a bit better about keeping a clip full of hollowpoints next to the bed though.

I know what I'd tell him.

maybe you need to have a raging party and not invite them.. that would piss em off for sure!

or have a party with the biggest, meanest looking bad asses you can find and then invite them... explain your dominance of your street to them then!

you need to dictate the rules if your in the right! the longer you let it go on the worse it WILL be on you. building walls isnt the answer you need to stand up to them... sometimes that means help may be needed, if so ask!

im not much for tiptoeing around dickheads...

Also remember contacting the police means a report on both of you...it makes it a lot harder to hire someone to leave their bodies blooded and in a dumpster somewhere.

I probably skip the cops...no reason why to have any reports made. The fence Idea is good and so are the windows if you have crappy windows. Also telling them the situation and asking if there is a reason to be playing musical cars at odd hours of the night...hell maybe they will admit they are from their car lot to which you then can remind them running a business from their home is not allowed.

There are always ways to get rid of people, buy some crack...toss it in one of their cars...call the cops and say they always go to a certain car and get a baggy out...cops might come with warrant and have a look...oh whats this a bag of crack, off to jail buddy.

For sure if they are renters, contact the landlord...as far as I know, deeds and titles are public record, but unless you know their names that isn't going to help you much.

I have a douchebag neighbor who sits below my daughters window in the spring/summer and smokes pot to the point that her room is hazy (more than once)...have avoided calling cops as I don't want my car/property messed with, but there does hit a point where shit has got to stop. *shrug*

Calling the cops on your noisy neighbor does not put you on any kind of list with the police. Hell you can do it without giving your name.

And it's NOT legal to smoke outside. I'm pretty sure that you both must be in your home and also out of sight of the public.

Medical Marijuana licenses here are not by county....I know people that do not live in Denver and have one. And yes it is for true medical uses and makes a huge difference in the person's life over Rx drugs. Just saying, tricky trying to get cops involved in matters like this in this state and best solution may be to move!

Yeah, not moving. I actually own my place, he is a lazy douche living in his dad place while it's for sale. And pretty sure it's not medical when he's sitting out there with his friends doing it, but whatever. I have no problem with the medical aspect, or people who use it. I dislike the complete douchebag aspect of doing it outside and disrupting other people. It'd probably be different if it wasn't 2-3 times a day in the summer, and if he didn't do shit like pile his cig butts behind my garage and shovel his snow into my driveway. But whatever.

In that case I would call in an anonymous tip to the police that there are people doing drugs outside. One time the police coming by may scare him enough. Sucks some people are just plain rude and seem to only care about themselves.

I have read at least that second hand pot smoke is not very harmful as compared to cigarette second hand smoke. I guess you could buy an air filter device and put it in your daughters room; that may help. There are some that will even filter the air and push it outside.

Plan to rent it out, that might be a hassle with a renter knowing right were you are to complain too at all hours of the day/night. Just pointing that out, unless you have a rental company do the work but then you might still get assholes in there. Or if you get it for a good deal fix it up and sell it yourself...that way you are a little more picky who you sell it too.

Put an after hours billing rate in the lease for non-emergency (nuisance) calls. Anything before 9am or after 5pm costs $75. My tenant never bothers me and the house always looks perfect when ever I drop in.

I'd say they were renters. Most homeowners don't shit on something they've worked hard for.

To help ya in the future, if this becomes a problem with either this house or another nearby, I'd suggest something that I've found useful:

When you see rental properties nearby post their phone numbers on the rental signs, write them down for future reference. The property management or private owner usually can be contacted and notified of issues. Property records are great and all, but when it gets to the nitty-gritty, I'd rather have a more direct contact I can advise of my own rights :)

There are several rentals in my neighbourhood and if there are problems with the new renters on the street, next door, whatever, I plan on calling them and letting them know that they've let losers move in and as a long-time owner, I'm not putting up with the BS.

If they've rented to section 8 applicants, they can only live there for 2 years maximum. Also, they cannot allow drinking (yep, ZERO alcohol) or drugs. The Owner/Prop Mngt Co can lose their funding if anyone in residence is found with either.

Know your code-enforcement number, too, for your area. You get someone who will write tickets on them for even changing their oil in their driveway, and you've found a champion for your cause.

Interesting info, i know we have a house on my street that rents via sec 8, but luckily the current has been great aside from running his diesel truck at all hours. (as appose to 100s of cars parked out front, cops visiting, late night parties, etc.)

When I used to work at Arby's, we once used all the ice in the industrial size ice maker at the end of the night to fill up trash bags which we proceeded to stack in front of a co-workers screen door at his apartment. Turns out he woke up late for work that morning and end up kicking his cheap half screen half glass entry door off the hinges trying to get out.

A few buddies also filled up the bed of my ranger (when I had it) to the brim with ice before our shift was over. On the way over to a friends house, I got out at a stop light (Federal and Bellview) and dropped the tail gate on the ranger. I've always wondered what the couple of cars behind me thought that night at 1 in the morning as I floored it from the stoplight dropping a bed full of ice in the intersection.
