'01 Gixxer750 Side stand/Ignition Disconnect

Can anyone please tell me how to bypass or disconnect the safety switch to my 01 Gixxer 750? I took the stand off tonight and disconnected the wiring for the switch at the quick-disconnect under the tank, but the motor still kills when I put it in gear.
