I have a lead on a 2011 Ducati 848 (white with red frame) that is located out of state (Kansas City Area).
He wants $12500
Goodies on the bike include Carbon Fiber Leo Vince slip-ons, Competition Werkes FE, Carbon Fiber rear hugger, and a "no-name" single sided swingarm).
Miles are less 500, so it's practicaly brand new..buyer states he doesnt like the twin and wants to go back to a inline 4.

I have a couple questions to him regarding title in possession, service package etc...

I'm inclined to ask for $200 off for the gas for me driving out to KC.

Do you think 12.5-12.3K is a good price or do I hold off and keep looking at 2009-2010 models?

Offer him 12K and tell him you'll come out to pick it up... he won't have to bother with shipping!

You're not going to get a 500 mile 2011 848 for much less than MSRP anywhere locally and then add in dealer's BS charges... :|

That's what I would do if I were in your situation.

Oh... and the white w/ red...

My biggest question would be, Why did you replace the swingarm? And who makes "no name" ?

There are a bunch of reasons to do it, most performance related.

It's common on SS ducatis to replace the swing arm with one slightly longer and then put a steep geometry set of triple clamps on for racing. This makes the bike turn well and still have excellent grip at corner exit. Doing a longer swing arm without the triples, however, doesn't make much sense to me.

The other reason is weight. The SS swing arm on the production bikes is pretty heavy. You can reduce weight quite a bit by using an aftermarket one.

The third is to get girls. Girls dig single sided swing arms, espeicially ones that are anodized the same color as the frame and adorned with sprocket carriers that have bolts anodized the same color :silly:

I have no idea who "no name" is.

Whoops, it's a single sided swingarm stand... no mod's have been done to the frame of the bike.
I said "no-name" for the brand..it's not a pitbull stand.

I'm the MAN in the house....she got what she wanted (baby girl inbound)...

I ended up passing on the Slovenia/Embassy gig as I was selected for promotion into a new job in our MP battalion here in Colorado.

Opps, never mind. Just saw that it's a stand not a swingarm :D

The more Ducati's immigrating to Colorado the better, I brought the m695 up from Albuquerque.

Soon Denver will pass an ordinance banning loud ass dry clutches.

Update: Mission Accomplished!

I was finally on the road heading East at around 7pm. I stopped around 130am at a rest stop in Kansas (I kept it CSC real while I slept with my SIG P220). I woke up around 630am and was still heading east. I was at the dudes house around 1000am. Bike was as described, Leo Carbon Fiber pipes, Puig windshiled, solo rear cowl, service manual, cometition werkes fender eleminator, and all the stock parts. T-Rex stand included.
I had reserved a motorcycle trailer from U-haul, but spent about an hour at that location...and then headed back west on I-70. About five hours into the trip I pull over for gas and notice the cotter pin that holds the larger pin into the trailer reciver had fallen out...wtf...so I used some zip ties and duck-tape to secure it in place. Now i'm paranoid of the trailer popping out of the hitch, so I end up stopping about every hour to check on the reciever....Well I got home around 9pm...26 hours and almost 1000 miles the 2011 Ducati 848 is now home!

I'll get some pictures up later!
