Vellos
Sun Apr 10th, 2011, 08:04 PM
When: 10:30AM (depart @11)
Where: Golden 7-11

I did this last year and it was a lot of fun. We'll go for a mixed pace ride toward Estes and stop at a picnic area to grill some burgers. You don't need to pay for the food, but you do need to post-up so I know how much to bring. :)

Weather is predicted at 65 and sunny, with surrounding days also in the 60s so I don't think it will be cold, but maybe rain or wind... hope not though!

Vellos, I'll bring the Artichoke dip! and I don't think you're a nub! you def don't ride like a nub. ie. GPS systems, ipods, gay $350.00 cameras hanging off your helmet, (going the speed limit) etc.8) It's kinda funny too, cause everyone who calls other peeps nub's aren't ever on any of the rides. :dunno: :squid::jerkoff:. I've got a bit of storage, some of which can even be tailored with ice to keep things cool if we need more ability to carry foodstuffs.

Soda and water would be excellent. I don't have room for liquids - I have all the burger and cooking materials (charcoal, bread, ketchup, lettuce, cheese, etc).

Tenderasses, indeed. I love all the talk I keep hearing about "riding seasons" this and that. What is this riding season talk? I've been riding in sleet, slush, and heavy snow here in Denver, torrential downpours and horrific winds in Oklahoma, and suffocating heat in Texas. EVERY season is riding season, but not every season is candy-ass squid-in-nothin'-but-a-shirt-and-a-smile season. =P

Yeah, it was stupidly cold, but I've also been in much worse, and will continue to do so. Only thing I won't ride in is icy road conditions...it's just not smart at that point.

Well, I was on that same road that same day, at almost the same time, and I'll tell ya, I've ridden in WAAAY colder conditions up there, and especially over Cameron or Berthoud passes. To me, that was just a mild spring day on the cool side, but, sounds like I've been here a lot longer and riding WAAAY longer still. Good gear makes all the difference.

P.S. And, I lived and rode in the Mojave desert for 11 years as well where we'd get 115-120 in the summer, so I know a wee bit about heat too. ;)
