I just bought a new interceptor, and the best rate my credit union offered was 7.7%. If it was a Harley it'd be 4.25%.

WTF? Does HD have some sort of back room deal going on? Google is not telling me anything.

Interceptor = more risk, so they're trying to make their money back quicker.
And when I say more risk, I mean they actually get ridden instead of getting started up on Friday nights before beer-fueled buddies... haha

Accuse them of being racist towards Japanese.

Sportbike vs. cruiser.

arent HDs reputed to have a better resale value?

HD= 4x as much $$ so they get the same amount of profit.

Did you already get a loan? If not, check out State Farm bank. Pretty easy to work with and solid rates.

Congrats on the new ride!

Lots of manufacturers make cruisers. Only HD gets the low rate. Other credit unions are offering the same sort of deal.

Fay Myers set me up with Space Age FCU. They beat Elevations CU interest rate by about a point.

Nice ride. If you come across a deal on the saddlebags, take it. It will be the best money you ever spent.

HD takes all that extra pork they throw on to their POS bikes, and sends it back to the bank.

Congrats on the new ride!!

Thankfully, most every HD out there is more than any sportbike out there (Ducati Excluded). A co-worker has a Harley he got last summer. Got liek 800 miles on it, and I swear when he pulls in the parking lot, it looks like he's on a 4000 year old motorcycle. I just don't get the draw to those bikes. Oh yeah, and it was $18,000.

Maybe you should shop around for a better rate. Although, I believe it's all dependent on your credit score, but I think Bellco is around 5% (ish)

Doesn't Harley just handle financing on their own like GMAC used to do with cars for GM?

Used to be a motorcycle company that sometimes financed it's customers

Now a finance company that sometimes sells motorcycles?

Bellco is 7.99. Credit is A+, so I get the lowest rate.

Rybo might be on to something. Maybe HD is offering to lend to credit unions at a very low rate for borrowers who are getting HDs.

I could have sworn when I was at Fay's on Saturday, their lowest rate (not including Ducati's financing) was around 5%... Maybe I was high on exhaust fumes? :? This would be credit score of mid to high 700's.

Space Age CU is pretty good! My local CU was about 7% and thats with a good credit score.

My credit score is in the low 700s and Space Age got me 5.2% If you apply for a couple other products, meaning checking account, credit card or something like that, they drop it another percentage point...

So, they are pretty good.
