Harbor Freight Folding Trailers 4/8 Foot

I'm thinking about buying one of these (http://www.harborfreight.com/interests/motorcycle/1195-lb-capacity-48-inch-x-96-inch-heavy-duty-foldable-utility-trailer-with-12-inch-wheels-90154.html) to drag mine and Cat's bike to track days and maybe on a trip once and a while. Probably will pull with her 2000 Maxima V6. Anyone have any experance with these trailers?

I'm actually picking one of these up next week for my R6. I've talked to Dallas about the one had and said it worked fine or him. I would have already had it but they were out and the shops in Denver wouldn't ship it to the shop in the Springs.

They are what they are, I wouldn't exceed the speed or weight ratings. But for a simple, small, and cheap open trailer, they work and people seem to like them for that purpose. If you are looking for something you can overload and abuse, this is not for you.

Mine works well for short, low speed trips. But the wheel bearings are shit, and you have to repack them often. I've replaced mine twice. Also, I used a 4x8 sheet of plywood on mine rather than cutting it in half as it added to the rigidity of the frame. One thing I would suggest, is once you have it assembled, weld every single joint together. The axle also needs beefing up.

For a cheap trailer, it works well... but it's just that. A cheap trailer.

I bought one with the 12" wheels and hauled my 600RR from Colorado to Maryland and back about 2-3 times. I did 75-80mph with it and had no issues. Took me about a day to build. Just be wary that you might have a difficult time getting the lights to all work as they put a pretty thick coat of paint on the frame making getting a good ground a pain in the ass.

Anyone look at the tire rating on those? I looked at my similar trailer (not HF, welded) the other day and noticed the tires are stamped 760lbs max at 60psi. I'm planning on hauling two bikes this summer, and not including the weight of the trailer that's already ~800lbs.

Do they make heavy duty tires in that 12" 4 bolt size? :dunno:

Is it a coupon for tomorrow or is everything 25% off? I went in to HF a couple of hours ago and they had a sign on the door advertising 25% off, so I assumed it was just a sale. If it's a sale, you should be able also use their 20% off coupon as well and get the trailer for about $180+ tax.

I've seen a truck axle put on with little problem and then it was a hauling beast. Find a straight axle that is the same width at a pick a part for nothing

Yes, it is large enough, we did it with Chris' trailer. We got two of the wheel chock's (http://www.harborfreight.com/motorcycle-wheel-chock-96349.html) and I think we had to stagger the bikes a little so the handlebars had room. I thought I had a pic, but I don't. I would suggest 12" wheels over 8".

I have one of those trailers and love it. Towed my bike from Little Rock all the way to Cheyenne with no issues. Very affordable and conveniently fits in a corner of my garage once its folded up.

I didnt trust ply wood though. I used 4x8 treated wood planks and its VERY sturdy. Only problem is that I have to remove one side of them for it to fold, but that only takes about 5 mins to do.

I had one I used for bikes and go-karts for years. (Horseman ended up buying it for what I paid for it.) I used 1/4" plate aluminum for decking and it handled my Blackbird just fine and simi-easily folded and stored in my garage. For the price its a good deal.

I picked up the 1600lb rating trailer & it has not failed me yet.

I picked up an electric whench from H.F. also. Hook her up, pull the tongue pins, & whench away... She's nestled tightly against the wall. I could probably do it w/out the whench if it wasn't for the plank of plywood & an inch of bedliner painted on it.
