View Full Version : Italian Ride MAY 22 - Details

aerofaze
Mon May 2nd, 2011, 01:46 PM
For those of us CSCers who ride fine Italian machinery, or those who are of fine Italian descent, or those who are dating or married to fine Italians… join us for an Italian Ride on SUNDAY, MAY 22! This is in the spirit of spdu4ia's thread (http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=39404).

Agenda
Meetup: MOCO (http://www.cosportbikeclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=38272) 10:30AM, kick stands up 10:45AM.
Destination: Estes Park
Route: Most likely Golden Gate Canyon and P2P
Eat: Sweet Basilico (http://www.sweetbasilico.com) (reservation under SARAH), chosen based on price, location, online reviews, and Sunday availability. Never eaten here, so don't blame me if it ends up yucky.

Alternate Agenda: In the event that the northern conditions are not ideal, we'll move the routes south to Colo Spgs. If ALL of the Front Range sucks on the 22nd, we'll postpone the Italian Ride to June 4. Details TBA.

To my fellow Neapolitans (Dirty Southies):
If you want to ride up to MOCO as a group on the 22nd, I plan to be at the 7-11 (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=2434+Briargate+Pkwy+Colorado+Springs,+CO+80 920&sll=38.967258,-104.782475&hl=en&gl=us&sspn=0.006295,0.006295&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=2434+Briargate+Pkwy,+Colorado+Springs,+Color ado+80920&ll=38.966767,-104.784669&spn=0.00538,0.010504&z=17) on Briargate Pkwy (b/w Chapel Hills Dr & Lexington Dr) at 9AM. KSU 9:15AM.

Thanks! :D I knew it had changed sometime ago but couldn't remember if it went from 7-11 to Conoco or the other way around. Either way, the address is the same but I've updated the post.

Hey all, new to the forum, just moved back to Denver about a month ago...

Just picked up my '10 RSV4, so I guess I'm going to have to switch from the 'Japanese' crowd to the 'Italian' crowd (even though I'm Irish...)

I'm tentatively in, going to be doing the noob ride on Saturday to get a few miles on the bike (only have about 60 on it right now) and I'll see how the butt holds up after that ride.

As of tonight, www.cotrip.org (http://www.cotrip.org) shows our preferred route to be all dry towards Estes Park, high of 64ish. Let's hope this holds up as there is a 20% chance of thunderstorms up there in the afternoon (according to www.estesparkweather.net (http://www.estesparkweather.net)), though Accuweather seems a bit more optimistic than that.

Worst case scenario: we still meet at MOCO, but we'll do a Deckers run and get lunch in Woodland Park or the west side of Old Colo City instead.

See ya all tomorrow!

Gary (GuitarX), THANK YOU for leading this thing. It was a great, fun ride! I counted max 13 bikes in the group. Chilly near the top as expected, but Estes Park had beautiful weather and lunch at Sweet Basilico was actually decent. CO-7 into Lyons was perfect, as always.

Matty - I wish you went with us. It ended up being a great ride once we got to some decent roads. Everybody took a vacation today and P2P and 7 were pretty much empty. It warmed up too.

Sarah, can't wait to see the pics! Thanks so much for taking the lead on setting up all the details. It was so cool to see all the Ducatis and even a couple MVs together. Where were the Aprilias? None showing doesn't look good on you Priller owners... :-)

All - it was a pleasure to see familiar faces and meet new riders.

I think that is easily the most Italian bikes I've seen anywhere at one time! Have a great week everyone! See you at another ride in the near future!

BTW, clear riding until the last 5 minutes before we got home! Then came the rain! Good reason to clean the bike tomorrow night!

It rained on us for a few minutes around the Nederland area. After that it was smooth sailing. The bike needs a wash now for sure.

Nice pics, but, Gary, maybe you should edit out the chicken strips instead of just your license #......just sayin'......... :)

Dude, I know you're just messing with me but I have to stick up for my manliness here. If you can find chicken strips on that bike (front or rear), I'm buying you some spaghetti! :321:

I'll go down to the garage and take pics right now dammit!

Thanks for the condolences everyone. Kind of a crappy way to start what was going to be an awesome day. Can we get another one of these set up for June 5th of the 12th? I would love to join the ride. :)

photos look great! My multi would have loved to meet some of its relatives.

Man I'm sorry I missed your ride. My dad was admitted to hospital Saturday night. He's fine now.

He insisted I come along with you guys, I decided to disobey.

Looks like you had a great time. I hope I can make the next one.

:) I remember a really funny article in one of the motorcyclist mags years ago where they showed how to scuff your tires up with 80-grit sandpaper, and a wood rasp. Then they said to complete the "fast guy" look, you'd get some black silicone RTV and put it on the edges of your tires to make it like the rubber was all balled up like a race take-off. It was hilarious.

I need to find some pearl blue spraypaint for the edges too, to give it that good "heat-cycled" look!

Hah! No doubt.

Or, you could just take a torch to 'em and heat 'em up a bit!

Guess I've never seen any of them. But, don't forget, they also make LOUSY beer too! Even I can't drink a Moretti......

I'll ride their motorcycles, drink their delicious vino, and have a siesta on a fugly sofa. :)
