View Full Version : Speeding?

Anyone do this? I haven't been able to work up the cajones to do it yet, even at modest speeds above the limit. I keep telling myself next time I'm sitting behind slow drivers on I25, or on an empty canyon road (or wherever) that I'm going to exceed the speed limit, even slightly, just because I'm on a bike and can, but I haven't done it yet. For some reason, it scares me more than the boogie man, and I don't know why! It's not because I could get a ticket, or seem like a douche to all the other people on the road, or endanger myself and other people on the road...I don't know what it is.

ps: I know speeding is illegal, but I still want quality advice on how to do it

on a completely related note, am I the only one noticing the influx of completely asinine posts lately...I realize it's springtime people, but come on...

maybe we can get a few more threads going...running red lights, running from the po, proper sandal wearing for canyon carving, rear-ending poeple 101

I only speed on federal and never with a helmet. I find its much more enjoyable if I use one gallon of industrial stangth styling gel to keep my head safe. After a long Sunday afternoon of speeding from one red light to the next I find its fun to turn around (12 point turn of course) and do it in the other direction.

It's not only speeding that scares me, it's roads and people. I take dirt roads everywhere. That way I can average a comfortable 6-8 mph at all times. There usually isn't any posted speed limit, so I just assume it's "as slow as possible."

I generally like to speed when its snowing out, wearing a tank top and shorts, no helmet with sandals on. I shave my head, so Ive purchased a mullet wig just for those special occasions. Then I split the lanes and run red lights without checking for cross traffic. I mean I get up to at least 14 miles per hour, its like super fast. I just mentally add a zero next to the indicated speed. I really like to slip the clutch so that it sounds like im going faster than I am. I also like to buy brand new tires and do burnouts with em cause chicks dig guys that have mullets and smell like burned rubber.

I like the speed limit its 150 in town and 200 on the freeway right? Make sure you dont wear your gear the added weight takes of at least .3 mph off your top speed. And if you get scared like i do just close your eyes and let the sound of the crash... i mean engine calm your nerves ;P

Speeding is not cool, since it is expensive (tickets) and really scary (I almost ran into a bicycle one time).

I ride with all my gear on, wear ear plugs, check road conditions, ride within my limits (on the street, shut it Vellos). I also eat a hearty breakfast before riding, since low blood sugar can degrade your riding performance.

C'mon guys stop playing around, this is for real. PEOPLE ARE DYING OUT THERE.

Do mowhawks help stabilize your head while at speed? The riders I see wearing them look so bad ass and must be bad ass riders or else they wouldnt have them right? If you look like a bad ass you must be right? I bet they help getting the chicks because they must think your a bad ass.

In all seriousness, Im hypoglycemic, My sugar will drop into the low 20's. I always keep Oj and chocolate milk with me on rides, and eat frequently. It does suck having to monitor it and make sure you address it before you go low. I really have to watch it at the track. Pretty much eat after every practice session and race. The hotter it is out, and the more active I am, the more sugar I burn. real pain in the ass, especially if you pass out while riding
