Last night i picked up a 2004 DRZ400E. That is all...very excited to go riding w/ you fools. Gotta get my plate first, and some boots...again very excited! Will post pictures later...any of you know how to adjust the stock suspension? The guy i purchased from was a little old guy, probably only 150-160 lbs...and i'm 210. Riding it around i could already tell the front and rear are way too soft...so who wants to help? :w00t:

Too soft for what? Street riding?

Oh and congrats on another turd joining in on the fun, at least it's an E

Man, 3 minutes until Bueller-DRz-hate. That's got to be a new record.

Congrats! I've got move of the stuff to service the suspension.

Crank the rear preload up until you are approx 1/3 of travel with your ass on the bike. If at that point you have no static sag your spring is too soft. I have never changed a spring, I usually just ride 'em.

And if you aren't using all of your travel it is too stiff, you want to lightly bottom on the biggest hits.

I'm in the same boat, don't know much about them. Just ride it like you stole it!

Go get on ThumperTalk and order the case savers now! Those things are like paper if you hit 'em with a rock or such, also think about a nice wrap around skid plate and radiator braces/guards. A shark fin on that rear disc would be good too.

+1 on what Bueller said. Unibiker makes the radiator guards. You can get the standard steel flavor for about a $100 shipped.

Sure do. And its high quality. I'll print it and put it in a bind for you for some brewskis. Otherwise its about 400mb.

Nice ride, Travis. Kientech engineering helped me out with me upgraded front and rear springs, but it doesnt look like they have much for the little Z.

One thing to remember is that the forrest service requires reflectors on your bike. Look into a cheap set for the front sides or back sides. Defective equipment fine can run you $75

reflectors are on the tail and swing arm. I'll see about stealing the tassels off my daughters bike and add to the handle bars!!!

Well yea and it's probably illegal to marry your goat but who enforces this shit. Have they been writing people on this shit? And seriously, the forest service?

Yeah, it's weak but I got a lecture at Rampart last year for just this thing. It's a revenue generator.

What about the ohv stickered bikes and quads?

Devaclis
Tue May 31st, 2011, 10:25 AM
I believe this is only for street legal off road vehicles. Plated dirtbikes and the like. Even the FS girl did not know the exact laws but she said my bike requires reflectors even though it was street legal from the factory.

Bueller
Tue May 31st, 2011, 10:30 AM
That makes no sense whatsoever, fuck them fucks. So I need DOT tires, a horn and reflectors and the whole business if I am plated but if I am running OHV's I don't.

What do they do if I have both?

NP, I cant recall buying anything from them but several of the people on ADV have with good results, although after seeing some of the stuff they have now for the 650, i feel i need to take out a loan... lol

Few other things: file off the sharp side of the shift lever, loctite the stator bolts, manual chain cam tensioner (buy the one on TT), JD jet kit for FCR carb, bigger IMS or Clarke tank would be nice….and you already know you need to buy my FMF PC4! Look up the sticky on TT under the DRZ forum for some mods I may have missed. I’d post the link but TT is blocked at work.

I want that pipe...but can't afford it now, i have a bunch of stuff i can trade, but it doesn't sound like you want to trade. I have a super nice magnetic tank bag w/ removable top. Also have front / rear stands. A* boots, technic gloves.
