updated -> meet at MOCO at 10am, KSU 10:30 route? Estes for lunch weather permitting.

It was a nice easy slow-paced ride up Golden Gate canyon until we passed two sheriffs parked on the side of the road in their white pick-ups. They pulled the entire second group over near the cop shop at the top of the canyon. The sheriff said the first few bikes were speeding, so he gave us the speech (slow down)!

I hope the rest of the ride went well. I headed back down Coal Creek because I have to work tonight.

I was going a whopping 37! Busted!!! The best part was the lecture about the local people and their families with little kids that don't appreciate having to LISTEN to bikes tearing up and down THEIR road. I thought it was our tax revenue that made roads possible, but maybe Gilpen county kids are plated and pay taxes that support the road. What do I know?

Just out of curiousity, are you a n00b? Not that there's anything wrong with that as we all were at one time, but I watched your video and honestly, it looks like you're pretty erratic with your lines, and it looks like you overshot the stop and almost clouted Maria a good one. I can understand being all excited to ride on some real roads with real people, and want to get a "closeup" for the video, but I totally see Maria's point (especially as she's a friend). This is not a game we play here, it can be deadly. And let's just say that if you HAD clouted her, things would have ended very badly here for you. My advice? Hang back more until your skill level increases. Take that or leave that as free advice, but I'm sure I'm not the only one here who'd tell you that. I wouldn't tolerate someone I didn't know and trust 100% to ride that close to me.

Yes I am a "noob" as you would like to call it. I was a riding too closely at times, absolutely. She knew as well as I knew - I was not doing it on purpose or to be cool, an asshole or get a closeup shot. I am still learning the pace of things and she brought it up to me and I apologized to her directly.

Jeff ( I believe thats his name) was very nice and politely mentioned the same thing about my lines politely. He gave me some pointers and let me follow him for a bit. Thank you. Its guys like him, that are encouraging, supportive and friendly, who make group riding fun and exciting.

I'm pretty sure he said 57mph..... maybe it was just me.

He said I was doing 58 when I asked "what's the problem officer", then when I reminded him that I had pulled up and stopped to wait for my group right behind his truck a mile or so back he altered the story for the rest of the group saying I was riding at the appropriate speed and the two bikes after me were flying. Gary and I have Cardo helmet communicators. His bs story didn't work on me so he took it down the line to yell at the others. I could hear his entire rant of shit through Gary's helmet com. I had already told Gary when I pulled off that there were cops waiting and he was paced accordingly coming around that corner and over the rise that they were sitting on the other side of. I'm sure he was just wound up about 20+ bikes going by on the road that he owns and his neighbors children play on. With no reason to pull us over except personal angst he asked nobody for paperwork and just ran off at the mouth to feed his own ego. He was rude and obnoxious on top of being completely wrong. Unfortunately douches like him continue to give cops a bad name.
Pull me over to protect someone's safety = fine, bust me for speeding or doing something that endangers anyone = fine, but to pull me over into soft gravel for his personal reasons is an abuse of power and why cops continue to erode any level of respect I have for the badge.

So happy to see this positive outlook and attitude, Fink. Come ride with us again, and the group will turn you into a safe twistie ace yet.

Who was the guy you were behind at the very end of the video?

Plus the fish-eyed lens makes it worse..

Not at all, the GoPro makes everything look farther away.

Yeah, it was total bullshit. I have that radar on my bike and it was on highway mode which gives me a 1/2 heads up as long as they're radar is on. When I came over the hill I was doing 45ish and slowed down. My radar didn't sound until I was about 100 yards away. That kind of makes me wonder if the sheriff facing north was radaring.

Well, it's what everyone here calls it. No offense, we all were at one time or another, some of us longer than we care to admit. I'm sure there's plenty of people glad to help out, and glad you're willing to listen to them. Just be careful here, the mtn's do not suffer fools, and have humbled, maimed, or killed many riders over the years. The worst fear is getting hit by someone else, so that's why she was so upset.

Best of luck.

I'm sorry I missed this one. I was on an A319 flying back from Phoenix. The irony of good jobs is while they finance many good times, they also interfere. :D

When did this become a n00b ride? I'll be riding my usual pace, slow(ish) and steady. My only big peeve is those that ride too close to me.

I simply can't help but respond to the word in bold above with HWY-105 last fall. Slow(ish) me arse. And how can I say this? I was right behind you. I can agree, however, that it was steady. :headbang:

Here's the view from the back. Sweeping up Golden Gate. Yes Finklestein was erratic and following too closely. He would have no room to avoid if something were to go haywire. I spoke to him on top of GG. and he calmed down later that ride. We were all noobs at some point, gotta start from somewhere.

Zach... ROFLMAO!

This video shows the distance I was following very well and it was close indeed. Definitely glad I learned this lesson now and not the hard way (taking someone else out). Thanks everyone for your input.

The very last clip at the end, where the dude like leans hard off his bike and turns, then straightens up mid turn, and does it again. Looked like the back of a Yamaha.

Oh, I missed that part. I was talking about the (almost)knuckle drag going down 7 ;)

Nice!

Guess I should have amended the below comment to read, "NO ONE likes people riding too close to them."

105 is an easy road, so was just covering ground on that ride.

HOLY SHIT, couldn't you get any farther up Maria's ass!?!

She yelled at me already :slap: during the ride. Plus the fish-eyed lens makes it worse. I'm still learning.

Finklestein87 and I did talk at the top of Golden Gate Canyon. I did try to advise him to stay back during the beginning of the ride as he was trying to ride side by side on the road. I hope you get in plenty of riding this summer and hopefully I'll meet up with you again.
