View Full Version : I keep scraping my cat

I had my 2008 ZX10R lowered 1/2 inch because as we all know, I'm short. Every time I go around a right hand turn now, I scrape my catalytic converter on the ground (at least I know I'm leaning a lot more than I used to). The exhaust system I want is over a grand so that'll take a while to get. Is there a way to remove the cat and just have a pipe that goes from the engine to the stock exhaust? Any other options? I have looked at slipons but those are around $500 and at that point I might as well save up for the undertail I want.

A muffler shop willing to do it, would be able to straight pipe it on the cheap. That's what I would do at least.

Does PETA know about this?

i had mine replaced with a section of straight pipe. super easy and way cheaper than a full exhaust. I acctually like the way my stock pipes sound now and have no plans on aftermarket pipes

"normal" is a strange word to use in this context.

Bikes aren't emission tested (yet), so just get it removed and a patch pipe put in and you should be fine.

But only on right hand corners... someone needs to learn about symmetry!

This is true. I think everyone needs that experience at least once though!

Stupid question when/if you remove cats from a moto does the engine/ecu need to be retuned? or any MIL O2 eliminators needed?

I don't have to worry about 'cats' but just curious.

Don't mean to 'hyjack' the thread but sounds like you hopefully received some assistance already
