Hey guys the RM Minimoto is having a hard time filling the 17" wheel class which is set at 250cc 4 stroke max (Ninja 250) but they are now trying to recruit 250 supermoto bikes to ride this race day coming up on Sunday the 5th.

I suggested they allow the DRZ-SM bikes in also. So would any of you guys be interested in racing this class for $20 + the $10 gate fee?

EDIT: It's a go homos! come beat up on the guys riding girls bikes!

If they were to go for it I doubt your wheel size would matter, they wouldn't turn you away, I think they were going to let FZR John to run 21/19's on his YZ125.

BTW Matty and I were passing sportbikes out there on knobbies one day.

Paulie this is not even official, but check over on SMJ for the thread about the 250 SM's

If it does go it sounds like as long as your bike is good to go on a normal IMI trackday you would be fine.

Yea asphalt only it's the ninja race but they only had a couple signups. You would be included with the $60 entry you paid to race the mini, I assume.

It was a whole lot of fun. Great group of people there. Four supermotos got on the 17" grid.

Archie(?), I think he was spanking ass everytime.
Bueller (on his ninja) spanked me everytime, I think everyone did but a 12y/o on a green kawi.
Justin, I'll let him chime in there.
I can't remember the other guy's name, really nice though!

The mini motos looked good too! That hammerhead kid was quick.

Well worth it over a track day I think. Getting to start from a take off together is something you don't get on track days. Sounds like they invited the DRZs back to the next IMI race day in late July.

Bueller
Mon Jun 6th, 2011, 01:32 PM
It was a blast and I hope they do allow the DRZ's to run the remainder of the series because they are very close in speed to the Ninja250's. The lines are a bit different so it makes passing in corners very interesting, but it does actually open some doors that following the road race line wouldn't. I have ridden both so this didn't come as a surprise, but Justin's lines, now that was a whole different story!

I did end up with a 3rd and 5th, which likely be my highest finish this year, with Hammer and a few others ninjettes set to enter the fray in the next event it should be some exciting racing. I have a feeling this may start a new precedent in racing.....and a new rivalry :jerkoff:

Wouldn't this setup carry over the mix of road race and super moto styles seen in the mini motos races? Except bigger engine size is allowed because of the heavy weight of the drz...

@Justin,
Yeah, hopefully I'm not tied up with some other service responsbility. Otherwise, count me in. I'm set on getting some IMI trackdays in on my free weekends up until then too.

Justin, apparently both of us were running high tire pressures that day.

Quote from Eddie Sisneros on the Thumper DRZ forum
"20-22 psi on the track.25 on the street.

above 30 will result in some hard crash lessons.

street sm's are way lighter than the bikes the tires were made for.they struggle to get heat in the tires."
