This £250,000 prototype electric race bike looks great in the 'before' picture a friend took at Silverstone in UK...

Apparantly batteries can be volatile... after spontaneous combustion and failed attempts to extinguish, they let it burn over night...

looking through his flickr there are more sad pictures of the smoldering ruin... would have been cool to see that thing race against the traditional bikes (as I think it was going to)

Any battery can be dangerous at high discharge and recharge rates. some explode. Plus, the noxious gasses released are FAR more deadly than a gasoline bike burning down. Bummer.
