I am off tomorrow and was thinking about posting a similar thread, but since you got it going... I was kind of thinking about taking the rod and some light tackle along incase I see some nice water along whatever route. You do any fishing? I have really been wanting to get a Bishops Castle ride in since I bought my bike and just haven't been able to swing it. What kind of ride did you have in mind?

Im down to do some fishing I got a pole but not a hole lot else. I usually ride in the golden area, Peak to peak, golden canyon, bolder canyon, all the curvy roads, but Im down for whatever. I like to explore new areas!

Myself and Riverdog are planing on dong a Bishop's Castle Ride tomorrow, possibly do a little fishing here and there. Here are the two different routes we are considering taking. Any input would be appreciated as I have never done this ride.

Meeting in Fairplay at 10am

1st route little less intense.

http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Fairplay,+co&daddr=bishops+castle,+co&hl=en&ll=38.581453,-105.729675&spn=0.485771,0.837021&sll=38.518086,-105.519562&sspn=0.972392,1.674042&geocode=FYiFVgId1omu-SkP2kfiQuhqhzEwN9au6ZcFBw%3BFQ7ERAIdomO8-SHdtcNBD31ZHg&mra=ls&t=h&z=11

2nd route: I hear 50 is a good ride. (kinda want to do this one!)

http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Fairplay,+co&daddr=nathrop,+co+to:Wellsville,+CO+to:canon+city, +co+to:bishops+castle,+co&hl=en&ll=38.541721,-105.339661&spn=0.972072,1.674042&sll=38.449018,-105.198555&sspn=0.243333,0.41851&geocode=FYiFVgId1omu-SkP2kfiQuhqhzEwN9au6ZcFBw%3BFZM1TwIdeUWt-SnLS9n0UP4UhzGucLu0BfTThA%3BFeBKSwId5y-w-SkbR55jQxkVhzGF5nYSVUOuTQ%3BFQ2MSgIdj2C6-SlncOmpkYUUhzHgc98OR2YmaQ%3BFQ7ERAIdomO8-SHdtcNBD31ZHg&mra=ls&t=h&z=10

This may be a day late and a dollar short, but skip Fairplay and take Deckers to Woodland Park to Cripple Creek on to Cotopaxi and over to Westcliff/ Bishops from there. It's a much better route, and yes-50 into Cotopaxi is a great stretch of road. Great fishing in Deckers, but I doubt you'll have time. On your 2nd map, you would go south on Texas Creek from 50, into Westcliff, east to Bishops, essentially coming at the route from the opposite direction on map #2 and taking the cop and traffic heavy 285 out of the equation.
