Responsibilities:

This position will be a member of the team responsible for planning, designing, and managing the development and testing of Pearson’s Pegasus platform. The platform is a large scale, high-availability online learning system that is used to help teach math, economics, accounting, and other disciplines to millions of students each year. The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for the creation, tracking, and management of various complex software projects that will include application integrations with both internal and external partners, new systems deployments, and coordinating outsourced development efforts. The technical project manager will gain an in-depth understanding of the integration technologies utilized by the team and will work closely with engineering leaders and product managers who research requirements, develop specifications, and manage integration projects. The candidate will also assist other team members with project management activities related to the development of the overall platform.

Responsibilities:


Facilitate the process of feature definition and prioritization with product management and integration partners
Consult with and assist teams with producing specs and detailed engineering task lists and schedules for in-house teams and outside software development vendors
Create and manage the development schedule in conjunction with engineering and product teams
Manage the tracking and disposition of software issues
Manage project risks and issues
Provide guidance with respect to product integrations
Write and approve test plans for quality assurance testing and supervise testing of integration features.


Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, preferably in computer science or a related field
Minimum of 1-3 years of proven technical project management experience
A proven track record in software development with end to end project life-cycle experience
Experience working with a geographically dispersed team
Demonstrable evidence of analyzing and documenting complex business processes and experience writing requirements and specifications
Formal training and/or certification in project management a plus
Experience in educational publishing or software a plus
