Hi all,

I'm looking for an Iphone app that lets me record my rides (live gps while riding) and then navigate me through them (directions on where to go given to me, preferably by voice). I usually ride new routes with a group, and then want to ride the same route by myself, so it would help a lot.

Do any of you use an app close to that? and what other iphone apps do you use?

I looked at several and GPS Drive was pretty good. They're all going to be pretty expensive once you get to turn by turn navigation. Look at Garmin and TomTom apps.

In the end, I abandoned the idea and bought a garmin Nuvi. Works great in (and out of, which is a lot if you're with ATT) cell coverage.

I use it on android and it is GREAT. all map data is stored so you don't need cell coverage, just a GPS connection.

Thanks for your replies so far,

On Iphone I use MapQuest and Skobbler to get just the turn by turn directions with voice, but it doesn't record my ride. They are both free, so don't pay for other ones, try these first. For recording I used Nike plus (was free for a limited time) and iMapMyRide (free, but is meant for bicyclists).

But yeah I am looking that does both.

A friend in Seaside uses this one, mainly for his mtn bike, unless he forgets to turn it off before getting into his car.

One he forgot to turn off the app.

I don't think this this app will act like a garvin or tom/tom.

Thanks,
This brings up a good point, it does not have to be one app, it could be two apps. One that records, and one with turn by turn voice directions. As long as they can share trips somehow it will work.

This makes me wanna switch to Android and make my own app.

Iphone app: 'Location Tracking GPS Lite for iOS 4' by Bin Zhao

It's FREE, but there is a full paid version if you want too.
First you start the stopwatch to start recording all kinds of neat stuff, then it saves it, and then you can 'Route' it from saved tracks.
Haven't tested the routing yet, but it did show me(gps location) on the map with the recorded track. Also can export it to Google Maps and view it that way.

Enjoy, let me know if you find better one.

I used Location Tracking GPS lite (see above). Works great! Has a lot of other neat features like a Pedometer, graphs, averages, ect.

Also shows you a map of where you are, distance traveled, total time, ect.
