I've crashed about 10, maybe a few more times on street bikes, mostly at the track. On dirtbikes? I couldn't count that on fingers and toes, in my first year alone! It's almost expected to crash dirt biking though, it's a bit different than street.

Im assuming not injured in all of these huh? Thats a lot of recovery time.....

Broken thumb and still racing... ?

I raced PPIR with ribs... Broke, cracked, bruised...Im not sure. Never went to the Dr. and they all feel about the same and the treatment is the same as well..... So Y bother ?

Ive onlyu had 1 on a dirt bike and it was the worst of all of them... Still aint right after that one in 12/03....... Ill stay off those for a long while

Only 1 broken bone in all of my wrecks. LOTS of cuts, scrapes, and bruises though.

1 street wreck, totalled the bike and partially separated my right shoulder (still pops from that). Flew over the bars and hit the ground headfirst, always wear your gear!!

1 dirtbike wreck at SCR in the 88's. Lesson: Knobbies just let go when you lean too far. No permanent injuries, but I did get a very slight concussion.

1 pocketbike wreck at SCR in the 88's. Lesson: Achieve full tuck position *before* reaching max speed. Managed to both highside and lowside, with a flip! Other lesson: Even after crashing I still kicked Dean's ass. Could be because he was laughing too hard. Injuries: Rash on arm and knee, scars still present. Girlfriend will not let me ride the pocketbike without full racing gear anymore.

So far that's it, I'm sure I have a nice racebike one coming at me sometime soon.

Wrecked about 5 times street and track! One broke collar bone, and one broken bone on right hand (5th metacarpal)! :) I never really rode dirt bike's, mostly quads. I have crashed doing that more times then I can count on both hands and feet! :D What Im really surprized about is that I never got hurt except for a few cuts and bruises, and we were always doing crazy/stupid shit too!!

7 total crashes in 3 years, 2 on the track, one head injury that almost killed me.

Thu May 26th, 2005, 01:34 PM
I think I win.

1996 - 1 (street) - sore shoulder but nothing broken
1998 - 1 (street) - a bit of road rash
2001 - 1 (street) - bruised ego
2002 - 2 (1 street - 1 track) - no injury
2003 - 2 (1 street - 1 track) - minor injury in street crash, but nothing broken
2004 - 5 (track) - 1 concussion. Got run over too, but nothing broken.
2005 - 1 (track) - another concussion :(

Total: 13

No dirtbike crashes (never rode one), and it seems that, for most people, they don't fall into the same category.

wow, enough talks about crashes....you are gonna curse me!
I have been riding over 6 years on the street, same bike and no get offs. Been hit by cars 3-4 times, nothing that caused me to "go down" (though one guy picked a fight with me, hit me with his truck at a stop light, then got out and tried to kick me as I was trying to get the bike off my leg).
I think I am hitting the end of my luck though...went canyon carving like a month ago, had the back end come out on me 3 times (enough that it made my heart jump) then got side swiped and knocked into another lane at about 65MPH on I-25 on the way home.

Check your tire pressure. Make sure its within specs. I know that can definately cause issues - speaking from the experience of the exact same thing happening to me on the Daytona the first time I took her into the canyons feaking out that my tires were balder than I thought the way she was sliding out on me. Turns out tires were fine. Tire pressure was WAYYYYY off.

No doubt, Im 5'8 or so and a 250 is still to big for me.... haha

So far my injuries include:

1 dirt bike: Broken collar bone (Never mended even with a plate and 6 screws. , scratched head, huge bruise and lump on side (Might get that removed at the end of this season. Lost the big toe nail too haha

3 track: Lowside at IMI when I first started learning track riding. I was trying to catch Alex K on his F4I....I lost. No injuries

1 Low side: SCR Cold tires and ate it. No injuries

1: Well Im not sure: Brake lever caught a dudes fairing and locked my front wheel at PPIR and ate it on my ribs and head. (Ribs ??? Pulled muscle in back, sprained finger)

2005 - 1 Street - lowside turning into gas station  - a little sore from the fall, but not a scratch on me

2005 - 1 Track - lowside at IMI - a little sore from the fall, but not a scratch on me

Mid-1980's - 1 Street - swerved on a banked curve to avoid obstacle, failed to recover from resulting front-end wobble, went over top side of the curve - a little shook up from unplanned detour, but not a scratch on me

Prior to Mid-1980's - I'm sure I crashed a few times on mini-bikes growing up, but none of them resulted in anything more than a bruise or two, if that. All bikes were ridden home from the crash.

You kids crack me up. Remember the movie roadhouse with Patrick Swayze, how ever you spell his name. He had his medical report with him so he could save time at the hospital. Usually when we go out of town to race we bring mine with us.
On the plus side all of the MRA ambulance crews know me personally now so no need for it in colorado. Also our doctor is Ray Rossi who is one of the AMA doctors that travels to AMA events. Its nice having a doctor who knows all about what we do.

dirt - way too many to count. first really good one at 7 and many many more in the 29 years since.

street - 3 (rear ended twice - once by a car, once by a motorhome - and a highside on monarch pass). i've been hit by 1 car, 1 commercial van and a 70,000lb semi  but didnt go down in any of those... do they count?? if so then 6 all together.

damages to street bikes - 2 totaled bikes and a lot of repairs to my first BMW

damages to me - sprained back, twisted ankle, sprained both wrists, broken wrist, cracked 4 vertabre, broke 4 ribs, collapsed lung, numerous shattered teeth (still workin on that one), broken shoulder, plus LOTS of lacerations, bruises and rash

I have crashed 7 or 8 times in the street/track. Broken bones include arm, hand, collar, femor, tibia, fibula, ankle, a few ribs and my sternum. About 3 concusions.

As far as dirt goes I never rode to much but sure did crash a lot. Hell I even manage to flip my quad over a few times and just a few weeks ago broke my hip on the quad..

Wait until we are about 50 years old and we can barley get out of bed.. :o :o That is going to be bad.

2 street crashes with no injuries, except for my pride.
3 crashes in 04 during race season. Injures in one... Knocked out cold  Broken scapula, broken collarbone, 6 ribs and bruised kidney and lung.
And it does get harder to get out of bed as you get older ;)
Now, about that Formula 40 class the MRA needs...

one thing you need to take into acount. The end of this year will be my 10th year racing. On average over the 10 years i race 5 races a weekend.
if i count only MRA races i have raced approx. 500 races in the MRA.
If i was to count the CCS,SMRI,CRA,AMA races it might be another 75 or so more races.
So if i crashed 27 times in 500 races what is my crash percentage?
i suck at math so someone figure it out for me :D

mine is total crashes on the race bike, practice and races.Basicaly
i crash 2.7 times a year.Crashing sucks but i hate it when people tell me i crash alot. Since my first full year i have finished in the top 5 in at least 1 class every year.I dont think i could continue to do that if i crashed as much as people think i do.They probably think that because i sometimes crash in a very big way :D
The bottom line is crashing is the shitty part of racing. Some of us crash by making mistakes, others because they ride way above their skills.
We just need to understand and learn from our crashes.

I wasn't going reply due to the possible jinx factor :|
But the percentage thing got my interest up.
1 really good street highside. bruises and a pressure contusion "popped" the skin open on the side of my elbow, 32 stitches.

4 track, bruises and one real good concussion.
