View Full Version : 2011 Annual CSC BBQ - Sunday August 14th - Sponsored by ABATE & Performance Cycle

Spiderman
Fri Jul 29th, 2011, 03:09 AM
It's time once again for the Annual CSC BBQ!! :bananna:

When: Sunday August 14th, starting around 11:00 AM. Goes till we're done (things usually start winding down around 5)
Where: Clement Park in Littleton (directions below)
What: The grill will be going with burgers, dogs, & brats; you're welcome to bring other meat to grill (more food/drink options below)
Who: Family is welcome, and this is kid/dog friendly (pets and some kids must be leashed!)

This year's BBQ is made possible with help from
 ABATE of Colorado (http://www.abateofcolo.org/) & Performance Cycle (http://www.performancecycle.com/). :applause:

How Do I Get There?
From Wadsworth and Bowles, go East on Bowles half a mile to the park entrance by the library (at W. Long Dr. (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Unknown+road&daddr=Unknown+road&hl=en&ll=39.608168,-105.081214&spn=0.004769,0.009645&sll=39.608235,-105.081215&sspn=0.004769,0.009645&geocode=FcRkXAIdAI-8-Q%3BFQFaXAIdzp68-Q&mra=ls&t=h&z=17)) Follow the road up and around the back of the library and through the parking lot towards the skate park. We will have the same shelter as we've had in previous years. Paved parking is available next to the picnic site.

What Can I Bring? How Can I Help?
ABATE of Colorado (http://www.abateofcolo.org/) & Performance Cycle (http://www.performancecycle.com/) have both stepped up to help supply hot-dogs, brats, burgers, buns, and some basic condiments (as well as plates, cups, cutlery, & napkins); if you have something else you'd like us to grill, feel free to bring it! Beyond that we appreciate people bringing a side-dish, soda, dessert, or something else tasty to share. We've had some great smoked brisket, soups & salads in the past - keep it up! Post up and let us know what you're going to bring - we'll keep an updated list lower down in this post. If you decide to come at the last minute, you can call me (@ 303-478-8801) to see if we need anything.

I am looking into getting a keg of beer with some of the extra money that was raised.

Food ideas:
- Potato salad (PunyJuney)
- macaroni salad
- cole slaw
- fruit salad (Trainwreck)
- vegetables & dip
- pie
- soda/drinks (Jdmluvr)
- water
- ??? (any suggestions?)

Other stuff we can use:
- large coolers
- ice
... that's all I can think of right now, but it's 3AM and my brain is fried.

If you have a EZ-up canopy that you can bring, the extra shade has come in handy in the past. The same goes for camp chairs.

Volleyball net? Football? Frisbee? Other "park" activities? Bring it!

How Do I Bring Food and Ride?
If you're planning on riding to the picnic, obviously, you can either pack it in a backpack, or strap it to the back seat, but another option would be to pass it off to someone who is caging it. We'll start a list below of cagers who can take stuff there for people. If you do go this route, please don't expect them to pick it up from your house - you need to make arrangements to get it wherever it needs to be.

Who's Bringing What:
This is a list of who is bringing what food/drink/etc:
1. Spiderman - Burgers, brats, hot-dogs, buns, condiments, plates, cups, napkins, utensils, etc. (I'll also have a few extra serving spoons), water (served from a 5 gal jug), ice, 1 large cooler (to hold ice & drinks)
2. Zach929rr - 40 lbs of chicken thighs donated by sloridr, ez-up, and probably a bullet of Killians.
3. Vellos - pie
4. FZRguy - BBQ baked beans
5. Reyven - cookies or brownies, something dessert related
6. madvlad - cheesecake from the factory
7. Mother Goose - Orzo pasta salad
8. aerofaze - Corn & bean salad
9. PunyJuney - potato salad
10. will-t - easy up, a squirt gun, and some kind of liquid for drinking (non alchy)
11. Trainwreck - Fruit Salad
12. OUTLAWD - some sort of chips/pretzels/etc
13. Jdmluvr - a cooler with drinks
14. AOK303 - chips/pretzles/etc (depends what catches my eye at kings before I come)

... What can you bring?

Who is Caging It and Transporting Food for People?
This will help those of you on bikes arrange a cage to get your baked beans or whatever to the picnic. If you can volunteer please post up, but include your general location! Expect some people to PM you asking for your services. If you need food brought for you, PM one of these people.

1. Mother Goose (Arvada)
2. DolphinRider (Thornton)
3. Zach929rr (Ken Caryl & 470)
4. Trainwreck (Green Mountain)
5. grim (englewood/parker/denver/centennial) *** Do not PM, send Text Msg: 303-944-6704

... Who else can help?

SEE YOU THERE!!

They do sell assorted boxes, we used to get them for work parties on occasion, and even Target carries them, but it's fresher from the Factory

So it looks like I'll be able to be back in time (pending no issues) to swing by the picnic. On the downside, I will not have showered since Thursday and have ridden a few hundred miles of dirt. So anybody that may want to have a conversation with me, please feel free to bring some sort of nice smelling spray or something. :silly:

I have no fucking idea what to do with a 40lb brick of frozen chicken. Going to do my best to break it up tonight and whip up some super secret KC Style BBQ sauce in the AM.

If someone has an extra propane grill, I can bring one of my tanks and cook the chicken on that.
