So it's like a small business license?

Why do you need database stuff to take pictures?!

I think the big one is you have to have one to enforce contracts according what I Google'd.

Yes.

You don't. But if you want to protect the name you have, like mine, it's a good thing to do. Plus shooting weddings, I needed to do it eventually. Plus I'll be able to write off gas money to HPR, and any lens purchase or rentals.

Yeah, I have a contract signed for a wedding in November, so it will help with that. Even though I don't see an issue arising.

If you're going to write off taxes, also get an EIN through the IRS just to keep it all legit. It's free and instant, they issue them online now.

CONGRATS!!

FYI... let your insurer know - immediately!

If you have any gear damaged/stolen/lost while on a paid gig, and they find out about it, but you don't have a "business" policy, they won't cover anything... At all.

I break my camera gear out separately as a rider policy which allows me to add/drop gear as needed. The change to the business policy was a small (yet noticeable) increase in premiums. However, in my mind it is worth paying the extra premium, rather than trying to hide it and have them discover an incident during a paid job.

I've actually thought about that. Using the race photos on vinyl and throw it on the bike. Sort of like JOHNNYMOTHERFUCKINROCKPAGEOMG!!!!111!!!!

Those are awesome.

Seriously.

I scored two of 'em... set up one account for personal stuff, setup another with my business banking. It's nice having the spare, because I can leave one at home while keeping one permanently in my gear bag. Total pwn.

Damn, that's slick. I'll have to set that up when I get the business account all set up.

Clovis - They are still free, so I'll just get one once I get my business account up this weekend. Thanks though.

Travis - It was quick and easy, and only $20 to do it. Let me know if you want the website.
