SCIENCE fiction made various predictions for the transport in the 21st century, but bikes haven't progressed to jetting us through the skies, what was once is still around today - two wheels and the combustion engine. Inspired by the flexing of muscles is a conceptualisation of what a futuristic Hyundai motorcycle could look like.

Designed by Min Seong Kim, the idea for the Hyundai motorcycle is to 'evoke a fluidic sculpture from the upper and lower sections intertwined together'.

How the idea of muscles works on a motorbike is through the function of the materials used in the construction of the chassis, the whole body utilises tech that allows it to 'stretch and contract just like your muscles do' enabling steering to take place without 'assistive apparatus'.
In theory this means when the bike is cornering the entire body relaxes so that it can turn smoothly, and under acceleration 'it contracts to form a rigid body'.
Looks like it has a V8 if you enlarge the pics

I'm curious about how you actually get in/on there to ride it, and doesn't it seem like most of what you'd see is those pillars?

...again, not that it matters...

I would not like being in that cage. If you go down the likelihood of being able to get yourself away from the bike decreases significantly.

The Hyundai looks kind of like their corporate logo.

Anyone find it odd that the rider is rocking Suzuki leathers?

Still, it can't beat the TRON lightcycle FTMFW. :D

Hyundai's photoshop budget ran out...

I noticed it too, and am especially disturbed by the "steering". The frame becomes pliable in the corners so the wheels can turn without any sort of steering mechanism, and stiffens up on the straightaway...
Is it just me or do others want a stiffer frame in the twisties as well???

Those handlebars do what exactly.... make you feel in control when you really aren't? :P

Hmmm.. interesting dilemma. So if the frame bends at speed when you are using countersteering to turn, how does it turn at parking lot speed when you need direct steering to turn as on a conventional bike?

+1.

You go down in that thing and try not to snap your neck between those cage bars as the bike takes off down the street... Plus, good luck cornering on those corvette tires, those things are fatter than Zach...'s blunt collection :D

You just power slide the rear tire to make sharp turns.

OMG, so obvious!

Maybe there's a LCD panel right there, so he can see what's on the other side...

I still think this:

Can't be, it's already here and yours for only $500,000!

That A-Pillar looks like it would cause a major blindspot when transitioning through a corner.

Maybe they'll make a convertible without the pillars next. :p

If it'd ever gone past concept into full production the price would've come down.
No reason they couldn't use this concept as the basis of a V6 or V8 or rotary powered bike.

Besides...
I meant bike of my future.:eyebrows:

Looks really cool but i'd hate to have to work on it. Seems like you'd have to take the whole damn thing apart just to change your oil or something crazy. But i would definately drive it just to see how it handles.
