With Quinn as a back up. What the fuck? Would liked to have seen Tebow get more practice time.

Meh, I'm glad Quinn is getting a chance if he has done a better job in the camps, etc. Tebow will get his chance when the time is right.

I dunno...I'm not impressed with with Quinns practice numbers. Think it's hard to say that about Tebow when he got hardly any PT in.

Quinn completed 10-of-16 passes for 130 yards with one interception Saturday against the Bills. (Sat Aug 20)

Tebow completed 1-of-2 passes for 10 yards and added one rush for seven yards during mop up duty in Saturday's win. (Sat Aug 20)

What really cracks me up is...

"Orton started the game and was seemingly outplayed by Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn, but he won't be losing his starting job after a six-pass effort in a preseason game"

Orton didn't exactly suck on Saturday. Quinn was kinda lame and Tebow was alright, but didn't set the field on fire.

Considering the coach was quoted after the game as saying Tebow's playing third wasn't indicative of anything and he was just trying different ordering in the roster, I doubt it means much.

It was nice to see the Broncos show signs of life as a team though, for the first time in a long time. Yeah it's only preseason, blah blah, but it was clearly evident to me that this team is being given proper leadership now. Regardless of who's QB, it should be an interesting season.

Quinn sucked for the Browns and I don't expect he'll surprise anyone in Denver.

Orton blows donkey dick. He is a panty waste that throws is away on 3rd down EVERY time. I give the broncos 5 wins this year. Maybe.

I laughed when the Broncos took a fullback in the first round as their "QB of the future". Note to all NFL GM's: Never... Ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever... select a player from the Univ. of Florida in the first or second round of the draft. They always turn out to be busts!

I've actually been impressed with Quinn's poise - granted, they're preseason games. I've never seen much of a place for Tebow in the NFL with his current skill set, except in specific packages and goal-line scenarios... but no team in their right mind will keep a QB on their roster with that kind of salary to only use them in a handful of plays. As such, I think Tebow's days in Denver are numbered - especially considering the elimination of the "emergency quarterback" rule.

My prediction: Orton plays out the season as starter, Quinn is the solid backup and may get some starts if the season tanks or Orton gets injured. Tebow gets traded or pushed to fullback.

I could see Quinn impressing people and making the case to be a starter if he continues to develop his game. This may not happen while he's here in Denver, but I wouldn't be opposed to it if it did.

 That isn't even remotely close to being true. Let me think of a few counter examples off the top of my head: Wilber Marshall, Fred Taylor, John L. Williams, Neal Anderson, Errict Rhett, Ricky Nattiel (whom I'm sure many of the locals will remember as a Bronco), Lomas Brown, Ike Hilliard, Ellis Johnson, Trace Armstrong. Oh, and there was some guy named Emmitt Smith in that group too. :)

For more current players, the jury is still out, of course, but Maurkice Pouncey seems to be doing pretty well at center for the Steelers. All-Pro as a rookie at that position is pretty damned impressive.

I understand your bias, though. Having attended UF for grad school from '87 to '94, I am well aware of the Florida rivalries. I think we can both agree that Florida State sucks. :D

Who had a better record than the Broncos last year. Thank you, please try again. ;)ahem...wasn't there some tragic news last week about your niner fans brawling w/ raider fans and some kid being shot 4 times, trying to help break one of the fights up, all over a pre-season game. Move Back to cali please, wait don't, cause i'm sure facebook would be overloaded w/ your daily videos of bad drivers pissing you off.

Don't blame me cause we're passionate about our team! Seriously though, what does this have to do with the 49ers having a better record than the Broncos? :dunno: BTW, the 2 guys shot were both in their 20s, I wouldn't call them kids.

Dirk, I'll say past Gators have had some success in the NFL, but your list is, for the most part, pretty ancient by NFL standards (meaning anything that happened 5 or more years ago is looked at as a long, LONG time ago). I think the only somewhat current player on your list is Fred Taylor, but even he is in the twilight of his career. Even though Trace Armstrong played his senior year at UF, he would've graduated as a Sun Devil had there not been an issue with the NCAA.

Regardless, I should have added the caveat "a recent Gator player" to my admonition. And, yes, we can all agree Free Shoes University, er... I mean, Failing Studies... shoot, I meant Florida State sucks.

You can do better than that. Or are you still mad that the 49ers beat the Broncos a couple years ago to keep them out of the playoffs? :eyebrows:

Well, even there (say 2006+) I don't think you can make the claim that there are a disproportionate number of busts from UF. I previously mentioned Pouncey. Percy Harvin is having a pretty good impact in Minnesota. Joe Haden had a good rookie year last year in Cincinnati (6 picks is not too shabby). Jermaine Cunningham started 11 games last year for the Patriots. Carlos Dunlap had 9.5 sacks in 12 games for the Bengals (team record for a rookie). Brandon Spikes had a good year, starting 8 games at LB for the Patriots. Chad Jackson might be considered a bust because he's battled injuries the entire time he's been in the league but he is still playing. Jarvis Moss might also be, although I think he struggled more because of the new scheme that McDaniels brought in. As I said earlier, it's hard to gauge whether a young current player has been a bust but I don't see UF players as standing out in that regard. But FSU still sucks.

I remember watching Orton when I was at Purdue. He had a great arm, but when he was under pressure, he would run the option, fumble and it would result in us losing the game. Always happened right around 3 min left in the 4th.

I have a pair of dirty skivvies each of you knobs can wear as a hat.

And Zach, Free Shoes? I expect better from you giving credit to the Son of Sam for a 20 year old dig. But you can enjoy your pending death penalty.

All that to say, I suppose I should expect the 3rd and 4th ranked programs in the state would both enjoy casting stones upwards.

RE Tebow. If the program is letting a former 1st rounder with a $33 million contract fight for 2nd place, they prolly don't expect him to be the QB of the future. The guy who did was sent packing to St Louis.

Jon, Jon, Jon... The last time I checked, the allegations are still being investigated by the NCAA. I wouldn't be surprised to be penalized, but there is no doubt the initial reports are being sensationalized.

With all that said, enjoy yet another season of seeing FSU start out ranked way higher than they should be, then come crashing back to reality. FSU: Where a four-loss season is cause for celebration and rings to commemorate

When the coaches/VP's/ownership of a team decide he's not 'the guy', trust them, they want to win a lot more than the fans do.

From guys who know a helluva lot more than me about football, and witnessed every training camp practice:
Quinn spent the summer working on his game with multiple QB coaches and came into camp remarkably better than where he was last year. Tebow, on the other hand, spent his summer doing book promos, book signings, and advertisements - and showed up to camp right where he left off last season.

Is Orton a 'Great QB'...No. But he's the best of the three we have now. Detractors talk about Orton's lack of mobility - Let's look at the SB winning QB's of the last decade or so... Rodgers, Roethlisberger, P. Manning, E. Manning, Brady, Brees.... Not a whole lot of mobility there, pure passers. Tebow's game just doesn't translate into the NFL.
