nobody can it's an admin thing your best bet is to upload to photo bucket or any image hosting site then copy and past the link into the thread.

It no worky, use photobucket and hot link them to here.

I'm kind of inclined to leave it broken, to be honest. It chews up our bandwidth and slows the site down, and allows people to get tricky and hotlink from our site (which just means more bandwidth, and more slowdown). Photobucket is slightly less convenient, but not horribly so.

Ralph,
If you do leave the option to upload a pic, maybe post up a sticky in the pics/vids thread for newer people, so they don't get frustrated. Or is there a way to not make it as an option when you are doing a post? Personally, it doesn't matter to me at all, I was just thinking of all the future "wtf, I can't upload pics" posts.

I'm all for continuing to not allow uploads for the sake of operations. But +1 to above and just removing the option altogether so every for sale thread doesn't start with "I can't seem to upload pics..."

Just FYI: during the normal workday, I can't view any photos linked from Photobucket, Flickr, etc. They've blocked those types of sites here. :(

Picasa seems to be the only one that is viewable at my office, but that's only if someone is sneaky and uses https://, rather than just http://.

I know, I know... I'm only one user (but I still wanted you to know!).

For sure we should cater to your needs however. I mean there is only one Aerofaze after all. :multi:

Awww, thanks, Scott. :) Yes, the only two types of images I can view on this site during normal biz hours are either from being uploaded or linked from Picasa.

(good to see you at the Nut on Wednesday, btw).

I've disabled the option to upload attachments when making a post. Hopefully that makes things a little less confusing.

Well damnit that explains it. So to users not to familiar with operations, how now would I upload a pic. Can I copy a pic from facebook then paste it?-----Just tried to copy and it didnt work. I'm not the smartest person either so...maybe my photos will not get posted:think:

Wait - Bob and Ralph have unilaterally decided to remove a feature from a site that they spend their free time maintaining and I use for free???????? WTF is that? I am now going to complain vociferously.

See responses #2,3, and 7 in this thread for sites you can host images on. When you make a post, click the icon above the text box that looks like a picture of mountains, and enter the URL to the pic you'd like to include. You can alternatively encase it in tags.

When you post (on almost any forum), there's a little square with a mountain in it up there ^^^ while you're typing. (Hint: if you hover your pointer over it, it says "insert picture".) Click that, then put the url of the image into the pop up, click ok. Your picture will appear.

If there is no little mountain picture thingy, type this picture url goes here

Thank you. I know what your talking about, but when you say URL, what does that mean? I got the little box to pop up, but then I dont know what to do next. I have a CD of photos that I would like to share and am unfamiliar with the know how. I'll try those sites

If you put them on photobucket it will give you a direct copy/paste link to use.
Use the "img code"

It will look like this, without the space in the end [/IMG]

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee291/rmsupermoto999/Bikes/b0c4e2b0.jpg[/IMG ]

Everything in between the IMG tag is the URL

You know, as long as this thread has been resurrected... anyone know how to link from Flickr? They don't have .jpg file endings in their URLs and the forum software is complaining that the link is not a valid file type. Anyone?

I link from Flickr all the time. You just have to go the additional step of selecting one of the sizes before copying the URL

Will there ever be a way for people to post pictures again?

Could one of the photography aficionados please share the super top secret method that you currently use to post images?

Unrelated but not to start a whole new thread on that, we need better smilies or emoticons. These are boring as hell
