So I went and bought myself a pickup truck to haul the D/S bike around in. I've been wanting to ride Webster pass since I got the bike, and now I have no excuse not to before the snow sets in.

I was thinking of trucking up 285, riding webster pass, lunch in Keystone, then riding the other way back to the truck.

Anyone wanna join?

A pick-up truck!

Dodge Dakota quad cab. It's used, but in damn fine condition.

PS: I'm still looking for a ramp if anyone has one they want to sell?

I'm not sure where Websters is. Do you need plates? A sticker? What's the elevation? Is it tight/steep single-track or does it open up?

I just got my '91 KX500 rejetted for here, and a few other misc maintenance items, so I was looking to get out soon before winter. But, it's basically best as a desert bike, not really the thing for tight stuff. Twisty, bumpy fireroads are what it does best.

But, I might be up for it if it seems like it'd be fun to ride with my bike's limitations. Let me know.

PS: I'm still looking for a ramp if anyone has one they want to sell? Dustin, I have one that I might be interested in getting rid off. It's kind of like this: Link (http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&webTypeId=89&navTitle=Trailer+Accessories&webCatId=21&prodFamilyId=20958) Normally I'd sell it for 50 Billion dollars, but I might be able to cut you a deal. :dunno:

CM,

Webster Pass: http://g.co/maps/hfccw

The ride would be from 285 over the pass, through Montezuma and into Keystone, then back the same way. You'd need plates to ride into Keystone I guess.

Sean, how much we talkin? 50 billion dollars is a lot of dollars.

Drat! I didn't know how easy it was to plate a MX bike here a few years ago, now it's basically impossible.

Thanks though! Maybe plan a big CSC "Dirt Day" some time next summer? I'm definately looking forward to doing a trip to Moab.

Got up and over the pass earlier today. The ride's pretty short. And it's a long way to go for what you get. I don't know what other trails/forest roads are around, but I bet you could make a longer day out of it if you know where you're going.

Most of the road was fairly technical. Lots of loose fist and brick sized rocks. At some points it felt like riding over a pile of bricks that hadn't been stacked... just loosely thrown in a pile. Tons of big water bar whoops to wheelie/jump over. And the huevos rancheros at whatever cafe I ate at in Keystone was delicious. I absolutely needed a plate to make it from the trail to town. ORV sticker wouldn't do.

Here's a couple pictures:

You make me want to sell every bike I have to get a trail bike. Why do people do this to me. What is an acceptable amount of motorcycles? 10?
